Dunno why this has been on my mind the past couple of days. It was all the rage back in the 386 days. I even tried to play it a time or two, but never got into it.

My question: What was the point of it? Any old Myst Jedi Masters want to edjamacate a Padawan?

The mission was to use all of that grey matter in your brianpan to solve the (some of them) rediculously difficult puzzles. All while sitting in front of a monitor. Kind of a crossover from the PC/Commodore games to the Video games of today.

If you like that one then the “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” puzzle game is the ultimate in wierd. Douglas Adams had something wrong in his head.

I've played Myst, and Riven, sort of the second game.
I enjoyed them both, and they're certainly a mystery/puzzle game. The plot sort of unfolds as you go. If you watch the cut scenes, and check your journal, you'll find hints, and tips etc...
In all honesty, I grabbed a walkthrough guide, because I would get stumped quite a bit, so I would recommend that if you get hung up as well.
Otherwise, it is a great game in my opinion.

Played it for a couple of hours. Was a bootleg copy someone gave me.
Was annoying and frustrating, so borrowed a walkthrough book another soldier had and beat the game one Saturday night.
Just don’t have the patience for games like that. Run and gun shooting- love em.

So what was the point? What signified the "End"?

    I guess I didn't have enough patience.

    DOOM2 on the other hand, was epic . . . .

IIRC the weird guy who guided you through it just sorta said the island is open for you to walk around in and was a lead in for a follow on game that came out later.
