Since 2014 I have spent over $10,000 at buds for actual firearms alone. I have also bought other things from them. This weekend I ordered a Leupold Deltapoint Pro from them. Today I received an email asking me to call them for verification needs.

I called them and the buds guy starts by wanting me to verify my name then my address. Ok perhaps standard procedure to know whom they are talking to. Then he hits me with they need me to fax over proof of Arizona residency? I was shocked and perturbed to say the least. I told him, not asked him, why would I need to do that for an optic. I mentioned having ordered many guns from them over the past 5 years and never needing to go thru this to get them. I looked over my purchases later and realized how much I had spent. But anyways he came back with I should be able to get this shipped but I need to verify my phone number. I gave that and then he wanted the last 4 digits of the card I used .Damn WTF I was thinking .If I had not got their number directly from their website and verified it on my contact list on my phone, I would have thought this was a scammer.

I was close to saying just cancel the order but I want to give them the chance to ship it first as the price was only $328 and these go for $399 normally.

Anyone else have to jump through hoops to get an order from buds or anyone else lately?

No but did they say it was for ITAR regulations? Only other thought would be a sales tax issue, I received a letter from B&H photo last week to inform me I needed to file a tax form with the state of Washington because I had ordered from Texas for a resident of Washington (my Pops) shipped from NY and I owed taxes on my purchase...I kind of thought the same, WTF?

Negative on both. But I did not ask why although I should have.

I would think 5 years and many purchases all with the same buyers address should be proof enough. Even my FFL zip code is the same as mine.

I did not need to prove my residence to Rempsport, Jem, Harrison, EGW, Brownells, Fusion, Optics Planet or Wilson when I purchased from them. These are who I purchased from over the past 2 weeks for a build and 2 months ago for my Wilson 1911. ITAR rules do not require the buyer to provide proof of residency from best I can tell. If the tax thing, then I stand by my earlier statement of 5 years worth of purchases to this same address should be proof enough. At least I would think so.

Sounds like a bunch of B.S. plenty of vendors out there with good prices and no “show me your papers” crap. I wouldn’t waste my time, just my T.C.

I ordered a case of 38 super ammo from LAX Ammo (the name should have been enough of a warning those socialists in CA) anyway -- since my regular supplier was backordered and they wanted to see a copy of my DL's before they would ship.

I've order 10's of thousands of rounds from Bulk Ammo, Lucky Gunner, TargetSports, SGammo, Underwood, etc and those all ship no questions ask.

I emailed them a copy of my DL and CCW and the ammo got here 4 days later.

That is strange I bought a case of 38 super 2 months ago from them. They did not ask for anything in order to complete my purchase.

Can you find another vendor selling the deltapoint pro for only $328?

The ATF looks pretty hard at anything involving the SouthWest.
Many vendors are just covering their azzes.

Hey brother, don’t bow up on me, I’m agreeing with you. There’s always a better price somewhere.

I was asking honestly. :) I would gladly spend my money elsewhere if they are going to start requiring proof of residence with every order. As long as the price is within reason of course. I do not want to cut of my nose to spite my face. But something's are worth doing so. I might have to make that decision. I am hoping not to have to though.

Well it looks like they have moved my order to shipping so do not have to make the above decision :) .
