I'd like to stay under 1300 on a mid length barrel 223 simi auto that's very solid.
Well made is a must. Do I need to spend more? Can I spend less?

Don't. Get a lever gun; much more fun.

You could spend much less including a solid optic. Aero Precision with an Aero or Ballistic Advantage barrel (same company). Feel free to pm me.

There are many reliable AR's out there for less than $1300.00. S&W M&P version is good as are other brands with good reputations.

If you want something sub moa, RRA has nice rifles under that amount with 3/4" moa. They get dinged on some forums for not being entirely mil spec. But I had one and it was a great gun.

hkpsp probably has the highest value recommendation so far, meaning great quality for a great price. It's probably the way I'd go if I was going to buy an AR.

I’m always going to be the guy who says save and buy an KAC SR15. Do it, do it once, and never think about it again.

This is more than likely my next purchase, even with wanting another AR

There is a Daniel Defense AR for sale in the Classifieds, great rifle at a good value IMO.

David, for the money, like BADABING said, you just can't beat a RRA (Rock River Arms). You'll get plenty of suggestions but IMO no one will beat RRA in that price range. I've had at least a dozen RRA's and still have 3 & brother they are well made.

If you ever want a high quality HB Long Range AR loaded out at a cheap price, let me know. I have a BRO (Black Rain Ordnance) that I had Justin H. of BRO build for me & brother it's got everything including Magpul's PRS stock, FDE, Adjustable gas block, Geiselle trigger, & made with a Black Hole Weaponry fluted 24" match barrel. I have shot 1.18" groups with it at 500 yards & it's been shot less than 300 times.

I always recommend building. Not so much for the cost savings.. but you get what you want and nothing you don’t. It’s also like layaway if you are in a budget. You buy pieces as you go.
You also learn a lot about the weapon this way.

I have 2 ARs a Colt Sporter & a Colt H-Bar looking for a price many stores are
    out of stock.
My 2 ARs take M-16 spare parts & mil surplus ammo cheap to keep both
like the 75gr BTHP weight best with a 1/7" twist.

Good luck on your search, it's not a great buyers time for ARs right now.

    How about a Colt? ar15_a2_.jpg

Can’t say anything but good things for Rosco barrels. With that budget you can easily put one together that will be solid. Shop around lots of deals out there.

I have quite a few different builds done and my go to for barrels is Rosco or Faxxon.

Just my .02 cents on the matter.

For you r price point, kick in an extra $200 and go BCM or LWRC. If you want to best than get on a wait list and save an extra 600 to go LMT!!!

For that money I would go with a Daniel Defense with one of there in house, Cold Hammer Forged Barrels and matching BCG!!!

I have a couple Wilson Combat Recon SR Tacticals I bought in 2015 I haven't shot yet.

Also have a LMT CQB16 and a Colt 6920 LE all in 556/223. Both of these are sweet

Would to have a LMT in 308

Just get what you want and to heck with the price point.

Another vote for DD or BCM or if you want to switch things up a bit

BCM or other quality lower and White Oak Arms upper will give you a tack driver
