Ok, the gun is back from Nighthawk. I am not happy at all. They bandaided the defective cylinder with a bigger cylinder stop. Now, there is even more wear inside the notches, as in through the DLC, shiny steel. -On top of that, as a extra special touch, there's now a slightly larger than pinprick-sized spot on the outside of one notch ... actually, well outside of it, on the cylinder face ... that is straight though the finish and into the steel. That was NOT there when I sent the revolver back to them.

I am finished with Nighthawk, and by extension, Korth. I do not trust this revolver as far as long-term use is concerned. Sooner or later, admittedly likely thousands of rounds down the road, their bandaid will need to be reapplied, IMO. So, I will test it for 100 rounds, sight it in, and keep it on the dresser for home defense. I will not sell this gun to someone, as I am not a dirtbag.

However, I have a perfect 4" Mongoose -- the first ever produced in (heavy) smoked nitride -- that is going on the block shortly. I will never sell my Fire Hawks, but I'm considering also offing my Agent 2 IOS 45acp Commander. That one is NOW perfectly reliable. I say "now" because that is one of 3 of their 1911s I have had to send back to correct FUNCTIONAL defects, in the case of the Agent2, my first range trip was a PITA with repeated FTRB on every single magazine (well over 100 rounds). After they sent it back, I tested it with 200 rounds, several different mags, and 3 different types of hollow points, and it was flawless. It should have been flawless when I first took it out the bag. That basically killed my love for that gun, and the fact that I have now sent 4 brand new handguns back to NHC for warranty work (first one 3 times before they actually had to replace it, the second one twice until they got it right, and thank God, the Agent2 was a quick and easy fix that they got right the first time). Of course, now there's this Korth, that never should've gotten out of Korth's shop, let alone NHCs. This kills me. I just don't know what happened to that company. Hopefully, they'll correct things over time. But, they'll be doing it without me as a customer, if that ever happens.
Tom, I am truly sorry to hear that two companies with such a reputation as NHC and Korth have collaborated on this revolver project only to ship, import, inspect and sell this kind of quality failure. Adding a service failure just punctuates the frustration.
I was seriously considering a Korth in .44 mag but could not find one close to me to look at with my trained critical eye. Instead I am thinking about having Hamilton Bowen build my grail DA revolver.

I am sorry to hear this….

Wow!!! Not exactly what I expected. Wonder if they deepened some of the notches for better purchase on cylinder stop ball as an alternative to cylinder replacement ??? Though why not redo DLC if so??? Sadly this is the major reason I didn’t want to send mine back to NH. Fix something mess up something else. I truly do feel your frustration.
i certainly suggest expressing your frustration to BobR./NH.
Very sorry.

Thanks. I did that before sending it back, and specifically said and wrote that the cylinder was defective, worn, and I wanted it replaced. Didn't matter. I no longer find NHC to be worth anymore aggravation, time and expense to me. I've got enough stress in my life, and I sure don't want another bout of the cancer I just put away a year ago. I kept it calm and polite, and I'll leave it -- and Nighthawk Custom -- there. I've bought so much swag with their logo on it I can't go near my guns or a range without it staring me in the face, lol. :)

Let me say that after I properly fitted mine it is flawless. Certainly the best revolver I’ve ever owned and up there with my full custom 1911’s…Yost, Biondo, Chen, Harrison, etc.
if I bought another Korth though I would certainly be cautious of sight unseen internet purchases. I’d want to fully inspect.
How many men in a thousand can tear apart and fix their own 6K gun? I salute you but damn, so much for concierge service. This thread will live forever most likely. I think when NH started selling a bigger share of their guns through dealers with standing orders they started losing touch with their customers. Sorry OP ended up with a blem, having paid full price.

These days you are almost better off buying a used gun from a trusted person rather than an untried new gun, given new product quality at many companies. I trust my friends locally and have found almost everyone I have dealt with on this forum to honestly represent conditions of guns.

You gonna let them know?
They know I'm not pleased. I'm just done with them. I think taking it any further would just cause me a lot of stress I don't need right now, and likely I'd just be beating the proverbial dead horse. You wouldn't believe what it took for them to remake a Border Special about 3 years back ....

EDIT to add: That's what was really the final straw for me. That is the 4th new handgun I had to send back to them for repairs to get them to run. I sent that Border Special back twice ... the 2nd time they returned it to me, they had basically destroyed it, and it was plainly obvious to the point of being downright insulting. I sent it back the third time, it was NOT repairable after their "work," and they finally replaced it. After all this crap they've known I've gone through, never said a bad word about them and stayed loyal, this last deal was how they repaid me. Screw that, and screw them.

I would reach out to the manufacturer directly with all that occurred and let them know about your dissatisfaction with all involved as well as the issues. Can't hurt. Be diplomatic.

So sorry to hear this. I have a really excellent 6" Mongoose, that after 2000 plus rounds still looks new. Have been thinking of the same thing in .44, but the OP's experience has given me second thoughts.

I haven't fired a round through it yet, and there's a turn line already starting in the DLC. I could go on, but I'm moving on. :)
