I'm impatiently awaiting my birthday on the 26th of this month when my wife will be giving me a Volkmann Combat Carry and some custom grips from Bob (@Gripwright), which will likely arrive after I receive the pistol. The process of working with Bob to select the new grips has been so fun that I'm about as excited about them as I am about the Volkmann.

After looking at some amazing in stock and available slabs, Bob came across some incredible Lion's Blood Amboyna burl that was up for auction. He managed to win the auction, and here is a shot of my new grips in their raw form:

I'll post photos of the end product and maybe even some shots of the work in progress.

Those are going to be stunning!!!
Cant wait to see pics of the pistol with these grips.
Shots of the work in progress would be awesome.
I love following these builds as they progress.
Kudos to your wife & Happy Birthday Sir!

Those blanks are absolutely PATHETIC.... tell Bob to throw those out back in the ravine and find you something suitable for a Volkmann.

~~~ he speed dials Bob, to save them for himself~~~
Will do. The look like they came from some strange, bulbous growth on a tree.
Very nice!!! I have several sets from Bob and always are impressive. I am waiting on a set for my late father’s 1911 that we have collaborated on.
Those will be amazing, I'm 100% convinced the best way to go is to pick your own scales and send them to the several talented grip-makers we have on this forum. Bob did these after I sourced the scales on Etsy
