Now the question is, when is the UMP conversion coming?

Does Ca. approved mean that it doesn't shoot real bullets.

It isn't approved, but our DOJ talked themselves into a corner and the magazine isn't detachable without the use of "a tool" so their assault weapon definition doesn't apply. Their expert under questioning in a court case, agreed that a tool could even be the tip of a bullet so long as the magazine couldn't be detached with your hands only.

That led to the bullet button which is a small spring loaded detent in an AR mag catch. You push in and the mag drops. For this HK, it has what is called a Radlock magazine release. The lanyard on the trigger guard has a key like thing that just has a round nub on it. It pushes in a button on the mag release and you push it forward. It replaces the lever you can see on the normal lower in the picture.

On my to do list for one day. They are great guns when converted correctly. The one I shot had a can and it was awesome.
