So I have been searching for a new holster to wear whilst driving long Far West Texas distances. Then I remembered the company I bought a reproduction WWII M41 jacket (used as the background for most of my pics) for when it's just a little crispy and an M41 Arctic coat (https://www.atthefront.com/product-p/usuja41.htm) for when it's much colder. Everyone else around here wears Carhartts and Patagucci starting in a month-ish, so me wanting to be different, bought and wear vintage looking WWII coats when off duty. It's these guys...

They make a repro M3 tanker/flyer holster so I got one. Very well made, fits the Baers and Colts. Big bonus being that I can have easier access to my pistol when behind the wheel, and take the driving holster off when I get to where i am going. Test "drive" on the way to the range tomorrow...

Where does it ride, while you are driving?

What 1911 do you usually drive with, a commander?

Either of my Baers, a TRS or Custom Carry. Both 5" pistols

I have the El Paso version of this holster and I love it. I don’t feel it in the truck and it’s even better in the woods.

Test drive complete. Holster does exactly what I wanted it to do. I did cheat somewhat though, I carried my TRS in the 55BN on my belt, and put the Custom Carry in the M3.

Double your pleasure, double your fun...

That one looks different from the M7 I wore "professionally" in the 1970s.

I like the no holster metal touching the gun, finding a shoe smith who will sew thin leather patches to cover the metal on the inside of GI holsters is becoming difficult.

Wore mine in a tanker battalion in the 60's. My GI 45 was not quite up to your standards and the leather looked like an old very worn brown boot but it worked and was comfortable.
