I really wasn't in the market for another gun with Brandon's economy, but I made a mistake of stopping into a LGS, that is usually high priced, and they had a 4.25" Prodigy in stock at a somewhat reasonable price. Never held a 2011 style pistol before, but I loved they way it feels in my hands. I ended up walking out with it. Then the girl yelled at me that I have pay for my gun sir.
Slide/frame fit is very nice and smooth, a little play in the front but not terrible. Extractor is proud slightly, like all SA production pistols. Sights are very nice. Trigger isn't bad, not Les Baer great but not bad.
I know a Staccato will be a lot better, but I can't justify the price difference right now. Hopefully it functions fine, as it should be a later production.

Congrats. Check your extractor tension before you go shoot.
Clean it, lube it, and then shoot the hell out of it. If the disconnector is stiff, dry fire or just rack it 50-100 times, it will smooth out nicely.

Nice looking pistol. Can't wait to hear the range report. I do wish they offered an aluminum framed "carry" model, hopefully it's in the works.
Stopped by the range during my lunch break, only a quick 30 min session.
Shot a mix of S&B 115gr brass and Blazer Alum 115gr.
Shot 170 rds, through 2 17rd mags and 1 20 Rd mag.
No issues at all. Took me a mag or 2 to get used to the grip and trigger. Thought it was shooting high, but it was just me.
If I could change 2 things on it, it would be the trigger pull weight and the thumb safety.
The trigger isn't bad, just heavier feeling than my Baers, SACS, and Valor's I'm used to.
The thumb safety snicks on and off really well and doesn't have any play when pushing down on it once the safety is off, it's just a tad sharp on the edges and while it didn't cut me or anything, it is just slightly uncomfortable when shooting. I might just dremel it smooth sometime.
Overall first impressions are I really like the gun. Wish it was a 4.5" slide like the staccato, but it is what it is.

I was having issues with the extractor on mine. Gave it a little tweak and it’s good to go. My trigger was replaced with a flat aluminum trigger from atlas gun works. Maybe look into that.

That looks like a red dirt trigger. How much fitting did it require? Thank you

just a couple of pins to pop out and that’s it. Didn’t do anything else, and I think you might be right. Bought the gun used, I looked up red dirt and that looks to be the trigger that’s in it actually. So 70 dollar trigger.
Went to the range for a quick 30 min lunch session. Shot another flawless 162 rds.
The S&B Brass I shot before is definitely a little more accurate than the blazer Aluminum, but the blazer isn't too bad.
Need to pick up more mags sometime.

Midwestgunworks has OEM 20 rounds mags for $50.00. I've pick up a couple of 17 rounds mags from Triarc for $50 a piece.

Ill check it out. Local store had 17rd for 46.99. I had a $10 off coupon so i went ahead and picked them up.

My $6 rmr plate showed up yesterday (guy on another forum sold the gun and forgot he ordered a plate so sold it for the cost of shipping). Installed my 508T so might go shooting tomorrow.

My magwell from dawson should be here mid week.

nice rig. Gen 2 Dawson Magwell? I just added one to my Prodigy. It took a little bit of sanding on the inside front lip of the magwell to get it to seat properly.

No everyone that I have seen online installed on a prodigy was a Gen 1.
I saw the Gen 2 was recommended for the Prodigy on a few forums, so that's what I went with. Fits well after a light Dremel massage.
Well i saw gen 1 recommended on several forums with a little love tap from a rubber mallet. LOL.
I guess Ill see around Wed or so. If not, oh well Ill order the gen 2.

Do your stock prodigy base plates work with the gen 2.

yes, the stock basepads work fine
They do eat up the ammo don’t they.
Just recently got my first double stack.

The Gen 1 Dawson fits. Had to line it up perfectly and give it a pretty good smack with a rubber mallet. Hopefully it comes off ok when I need to take the gun down again.
Love the look, not sure I love the feel. The back feels odd in my hand, probably because the 2011 is already chunky. May not be a big deal when shooting.
17 Round stock base pads work fine.
