Hey, folks. My name is Chip and I grew up hunting and shooting, but for some reason really got the gun bug about 5 years ago. I've built a fairly custom AR15 and a couple of rimfires. I *really* like making my guns exactly the way I want them, and better and more special than other people's. And I don't have a 1911 yet. This brings me here. And, I read the buyer's guide, and there was a question I had to ask. I look forward to bugging you guys about my choice, as well as features & options!

Thanks, folks! I'll show off some of my builds, this is Jolene, inspired by the Walking Dead show. I'll probably lose the zombie touches after I see the next 1,000 AR's with the same theme:

    Tricked out .22's:
I love to tinker. I'm hoping some of the 1911's in the buyer's guide that were mentioned to have plastic mainsprings/triggers, etc. can be swapped out for better parts. That way I don't have to drop 2K right away, I can invest about half that and decide what I want for my dream 1911.

    Welcome from MI, Chip.

How do you like the AFG on the AR? I just added on two days ago and I'm not sold on them vs the vertical.

For my grip, it is perfect. I used a Knight's Armament recently, and like that one ever better. I've never grabbed a vertical from the bottom and been comfortable, I like my thumb on the handguard. The AFG makes that comfortable and a solid feel.
