Same here, but I think that's what I like about it. I needed to branch out a little, without straying too far from home.

    I have owned a LOT of 1911's in my time,but no Sig's.

Range report with a review of how you think the finish will hold up.

I have no doubts it will run like a scalded dog,but the finish.........:rolleyes2:

Congrats on the score, jump into the addiction head first !

I got to fondle one at the Sportsmans Whorehouse a little while back.. the slide felt like it was on ball-bearings, and the checkering felt a bit less aggressive than the TRP. Also the price at the store was closer to $950. The one that I handled could have used a bit of trigger work, as I felt it was a bit heavy. If I would have had the means I would have bought it. Nice score, can't wait to hear how it shoots.

This will be my first 1911 with a rail, night sights, external extractor, checkered front strap, spayed on finish, and mag well. All I've ever had we're old and new Colts and a Springfield.

I liked it so much last night I went shopping for one and forgot to post. Even with devilclawmarksbakedfinishlightrailexternalextractor.

Report back when you've rung it out

You can find some decent deals online, but the downside is waiting. Gun shipped today so I hope to be able shoot it this weekend.

I too am looking forward to your range reports and impressions on it. I want to know how that extractor does and how consistantly it ejects the brass.

FWIW, my first "1911" was a Star PD purchased around 1978. It has an external extractor and never failed to extract/eject. Looking back, I experienced some stovepipes in the early years, but they were most likely caused by me limp-wristing. Still have it, original extractor & spring, and it still runs well.

As a result, I don't view external extractors negatively.

You come to love a railed 1911 when you figure out you no longer need to carry 2 items on your belt and you can just put a light on your 1911, get a holster made for it, and go.

From a functional perspective I have no problem with external extractors, as long as the manufacturer made it work, and from what I understand Sig has.

The traditionalist in me is biased. But this 1911 is pretty far out of tradition in every way. And that was the point. Try something new, fun, even "tacticool" I guess. I'll still carry my old Colt. And my TRS once I get it.

Picked it up today. Initial impression is very good. Pics and a report on or after Saturday. I've been a reloading fiend this week in preparation.
