Finished this one up last week.
It started life as a new series 70 Colt and was commissioned as a retirement gift for a USMC officer. Fitted a new trigger, hammer, grip safety and bushing, then did the engraving and handmade stocks. The pins and screws are nitre blued. The presentation box is African padauk.

Awesome!! If you don’t mind me asking, how many hours did the engraving portion take? I’m not the biggest fan of gun engraving as much of it tends to be overly prolific and sometimes down right gaudy, but what you’ve done here is tastefully stunning.

I like that the width of the grips cover the frame flats at the back and front. I always wondered how good that would look, and as far as I'm concerned that's the way they all should look.

So now I need to learn how to make grips like that for my own pistol.

Damn that’s a amazing pistol. Hope I don’t get flamed, but I’d shoot the daylights out of it.

Top Notch Engraving and as said on FB just so tastefully done.. Not too much, not too little just the right amount to make the engraving a beautiful addition to the piece. That sir is a work of art for sure.. Engraving is on a whole other level for sure.

Thank very much guys! It was a fun project and I hope to do more like it. Building the box and insert was a nice change of pace.

A big goal of mine was to get tp point that I could build a full custom with engraving and a presentation box. This is the closest I have come so far.

TexasPatriot59, I think I have 25-30 hours in the engraving, including the lettering and initial design work.
