I really like the battleworn finish. When I first read through this thread I thought I have just the pistol to send to hillbilly for the finish. But when I pulled it out I remembered why I bought it in the first place, this Springfield has the most consistent worn finish of a non-military 1911 I have ever seen. For the $375 I paid for it at the time it has proven itself to be a great shooter. Snapping a few pictures to post up here convinced me that it already has a "battleworn" finish and I should just leave it be and enjoy. For your viewing pleasure:
In person the finish is actually more gray than blue, the camera and lighting darken the look.
