I started this build repairing for a surgery. It was a great distraction.

I had a .45 V-BOB that was looser than an AK-47. Shake it and it sounded like a box of rocks. The front sight rattled around too. The only thing holding it on was the pin and Loctite. I didn’t notice the fit when I bought it used. Gorgeous finish but terrible fit. Originally I was looking for a Dan Wesson Valkyrie in 9mm. Had one lined up but it fell through. CA roster limits selection of 9mm 1911’s to 2. Springfield and a Kimber.

I contacted NHC looking to straighten it out. Got a quote and realized I’d still wish it was a 9mm. Asked a few more questions and got the second quote to send the lower off to be a full custom 9mm.

*Modified the receiver to accept a ramped barrel.
*New slide and match grade barrel.
    *Short trigger.
*Full NHC ignition set and trigger job.
    *Everlast flat wire spring.
*Heinie Straight 8 Ledge night sights.
*Black nitride finish the whole gun.

The machining work came out great.
    *Crowned barrels.
    *Top of slide serrations.
    *Hi-Power carry cuts.
    *Ball cuts up front.
*Personal engraving ( Walküre ) on the left side of the slide in old German kurrant caligraphy. Hawks behind the cocking serrations.

Hands down the best shooting handgun I’ve handled. I put 400 rounds through it over the past 2 days with -0- malfunctions.

Couldn’t be happier. Master Gunsmith Travis Gregory did the work.

The only issue I did have is one of my medallions popped out at the range. I found it, lol. Grips are by Stoner CNC.

Nice pistol, Walkure. How old was the DW? I've never heard one in the condition you described.

I think it was 5 years old with less than 500 rounds through it. DW makes some nice guns but this one was loose as a street walker.

The slide had side to side play. I could squeeze the slide and receiver to the right and get contact from the two parts.

The only reason I looked at it was because of reputation. I never saw a bad one either. The bushing is the only part that looked like the previous owner may haves filed it. I didn’t need a tool to spin it and it was loose in the slide. I don’t know how it could have left the factory like this.

Crazy, the Valkyrie was discontinued at the beginning of this year too. I don’t know what’s going on over at DW but that’s not a great move imho. Valor’s are nice pistols.

Nice NH. I have never seen or heard of a valor feeling that way either. Did you contact Kieth @DW and talk to them?

I contacted DW. Not sure if it was Kieth. Customer service put me in touch with their gunsmith. For DW to rework it as a .45 was similar to NHC’s price. I didn’t like the proposed fix. I didn’t even ask DW about the 9mm conversion. I preferred the work to be done by NHC.

150 grain HST, 115-124 grain WWB, Blazer Brass 115 grain, 63 grain Civil Defense. 600 rounds without a single issue. Love this gun. It’s going to be a great CCW piece...

My hats off to NHC. They do great work.

Congrats on a gun perfectly suited to your tastes! Nighthawk consistently does amazing work on non-Nighthawk guns.

One of my daughters will get it if I’m not able to hold on for a responsible lucky grandkid.
