I’d like to buy my first Nighthawk, and have settled on a used 9mm commander sized gun because I plan to have a .38 Super barrel added at some point. The Nighthawk models that have caught my eye are the Talon II or Kestrel/Ladyhawk. I have not been able to find a Kestrel or Ladyhawk locally to handle and wanted some feedback on the smaller grip frame compared to the Talon. Is the feel of the smaller frame significantly different than the Talon? Anyone have these models and care to comment?

To me the difference is about the same as thin vs standard grip panels. When I had my Kestral I put standard grip panels on it and couldn’t tell the difference.

The lady hawk (and kestrel) model is the thinnest grip I’ve ever felt. The talon is your standard 1911 frame. If you dig thin, get the LH/Kestrel.

Don't leave the Trooper out of the mix. But I have an ancient Talon and it surely is a nice pistol

Here's a couple pics I just took for you to consider. Lady Hawk on the left and Wilson Professional .45 on the right.

When I purchased the Lady Hawk I sent it back to NH for rounded rather than flat MSH. They also put a longer trigger in it. Other than that its stock.

Thanks for the pictures Snap, they are helpful. Thanks to all the others for their comments as well. I’ll have to see what I can find used, I can’t really spring for a new one right now.

I’ll keep my eye out, I’d like to find a deal on a good used (or well used) Talon II, Kestrel or Ladyhawk Commander in 9mm. As soft as the market seems right now I may be able to come up with something.
