I got this drill from @Jollyroger1 tread, I hope he doesn't mind.

    https://www.1911addicts.com/threads/mars-lb-tr-special-w-rmr.38512/#post

    I'm calling it Dueling Cards

    Holstered , 8 rounds
    Target 7 yards,
Four 3x5 index cards , spaced out 5" between cards, top to bottom. Top card head high
two rounds to each starting from the top.

Miss a card/shot add one sec to time for every shot missed

    Fastest time for the win,
    who's in?

Cool, wish I still had the video for this one.

Been super busy lately and haven’t had a chance to participate, hopefully this month is different. Good luck gents!

If you miss the card is it keep shooting until you get 2 hits or the run is dead?

    Let's see;
    1.30 1st shot
    .25 2nd shot
    .35 3rd shot with transition
    .25 4th shot
    .35 5th shot with transition
    .25 6th shot
    .35 7th shot with transition
    .25 8th shot
So something like a 3.35 par time? :bag:

Miss a card/shot add one sec to time for every shot missed. I think that's how been done in past drills

I'll add this to first post

It's ALWAYS a very wise idea to keep tactical training as realistic as possible. I know that public ranges do not facilitate tactical training. Hence, it's better were you able to create your own tactical range.

Your distance is good. But since 90+% of all gunfights occur at 10' and less, that's where I'd do most tactical training. Space silhouettes at least 3' apart. 6' apart would be better. Draw, shoulder point, and move.

If it's not tactical shooting, it's a variation of target shooting.

    I've never shot this: http://www.idpa.com/

I've been told that it's far batter than private tactical handgun courses. I can only relate what I've been told. I have no experience with either. But if I hadn't of received training elsewhere, I'd be inclined to go with IDPA. The reason is active duty cops shoot it.

Oh come on! You should clean it in under 3 seconds with those fancy guns of yours. ;)

This drill is a good one for me to work on. I can run “A” zones with ease but when I need “head box” or 3x5 cards I need to work on my accuracy more. I noticed on the last couple outings after taking the summer months off from shooting I’m not driving the front sight and controlling the gun well on fallow up shots.

    So for November’s drill the best o got was 9.51 down 2. For 11.51 total. :( 212BFD16-D7EF-4178-8283-73AD07D8299D.jpeg 9792CAE7-38D4-4F51-9F9C-4050A1EC9A1C.jpeg

@azpoolguy has set the bar with a good run. I'm going to give it a go tomorrow or Sun depending on weather.

I'm in the same boat as Mike, I haven't been focused enough on shooting tight lately so this is going to be a good drill for me. My best time was 7.01 with 2 down so a total of 9.01. I hate to post my timer pic after seeing SA's expectation on split and draw times but WTH.

This was fun, plan to hit it again tomorrow. IMG_0382.JPG

Yeah My available ranges have a minimum of seven yards. and due to SLOBS that don't care to police their area of debris most of the shootable area not in hunting range is closed out I've seen three unofficial ranges locked out by state agencies due to slobs in the past 5 years.

That was just my guess at an ideal time. A person would have to be a pretty squared away shooter to run it in the par time I posted. I doubt if I can run it any faster than you did. Good job.

This looks like fun, once I get caught up on chores(my brother was out for a week, set me back a bit) I'll give it a run.

My second and best run was 6.44 -1 down for total of 7.44, I didn't get a pic of timer :bang: but I did get target.
I just nicked the first card, up to everyone if its a miss or not. I'm good either way.
