High, not because of the powder plant but because we are on a rural property with a volunteer fire department.

Hodgdon is one of three businesses on the site of a WW2 B29 bomber base.

Ocasionally they do a controlled burn of old powder. Burns REAL bright for about 30 seconds or so. The first time I saw that I thought the plant had caught on fire.

This was their old sign. It disappeared... it was made from three pieces of limestone post rock with another piece of sawn limestone hanging from the top post. It had to weigh at least 3500 pounds. One morning; sign was just gone.
