I know this is very vague, but what is everyone’s thoughts on optic choice for a KAC SR15 Mod2?

I currently have a handful of AR’s running anything from Aimpoint T2 to NF 1-4 optics to Vortex 2.5-10 optics.

I only mention this because there is no specific use Inhave for this rifle as it was bought because I couldn’t pass up the deal

Let me know what your preferred
    set up would be!

Judging from the classified section definitely a nightforce or a leupold;).
Seriously though I like a red dot sight. They are quick and I can shoot it out to 200 yards pretty well. At the same time if you want a little magnification I also really like a 1-6 or 1-8 power scope. It allows you to make those quick shots up close and switch quick for something a little further out.

Optics choice tend to be "purpose driven".
KAC has a deserved rep for precision, perhaps this is a SPRish candidate.
If so- 2-10X/3-15X glass makes sense.

As you're no doubt aware, with optics- you get what you pay for. The skies the limit.

If money is no object, have you checked the NF 1-8 ATACR?

My dream setup would be the NF 1-8 ATACR with an offset RMR. Surefire Scout DF. Vickers Sling

I got to fool with a rifle from my buddy's unit that had a 1-8, and an offset T2. I was duly impressed

My vote is to just sell me the gun and I will send you a picture of it with some glass mounted.

If you don’t have a specific purpose, I’m a firm believer that a solid LPVO is the best GP optic. So far, I’m really liking my Razor and it’s very hard to go wrong with it. If money isn’t a concern, the ATACR would probably be the only other thing I’d consider, personally.

The MOD 2 comes with a 16" barrel if I remember correctly, so Aimpoint, ACOG. Elcan or lower end variable (1-6x/8x) would all do nicely.

    Khales K16i

If you don’t care about the weight and don’t want to spend Khales money, Vortex RazorE 1-6.

I love Nightforce and have an ATACR and NXS 1-4 as well as extensive time behind the NX8. But their new LPVO’s give up way too much 1x performance in favor of FFP design. The ATACR 1-8 is great, but does nothing better than the 1-6 Razor except the extra 2x and FFP. In fact the Razor has better illumination and is a fraction of the cost. K16i by Khales is still in my opinion and many others the greatest LPVO. Largest eyebox and field of view, on par if not better than ATACR and Razor but much much lighter. Granted you’ll pay for it but it would be a killer setup on top of an SR-15.

My KAC rides with a Burris 1x5 and a suppressor. Love it and it runs and runs and would trust it with my life.

My SR25 comes with a Leupy scope that was part of the contract, and I keep it on even though I think there are better scopes out there. On my 1st gen E3, it usually sports a green horseshoe ACOG. I think it's the TA-31 HG, but I sometimes remember the designations wrong. It's the 4x32. Just feels right for the gun.

At this point I’m really leaning toward either a T2 or NF 1-8. Large difference in $$$. I’ll figure it out soon though. I already own a vortex 1-4 optic and T2. So I’ll throw em both on and see what I prefer most on that rifle!

A true one power LVPO and a offset red dot is a waste. That’s the whole purpose of being able to drop down to a true one power at the low end.

Though the NX8 is reportedly not as good on 1x as others, I tend to agree.

I’ve got some nice glass on long range guns but prefer the Trijicon 1-4 w/green triangle for my LVPO guns. Everybody bought the NF NXS 1-8 when it came out. One month later the used market was flooded with people trying to offload them. If going NF 1-8 the ATACR is apparently the one to have. AFD85D35-4E79-4258-B6C7-D97D908A6D89.jpeg
