My collection is small and purposeful. Really, I'm not a collector. I, for reasons that I haven't understood yet, have an aversion to owning too many firearms. If I can't justify its use, I don't buy it. My neighbor is opposite- he has 60+ firearms, and loves collecting. I appreciate the perspective, while sticking to my own.
I have wanted a smaller carry 1911, and the 4 inch EMP seems to be a good fit- the 1911 platform has shaken out to be my favorite. I know that it has proprietary parts (which, for some, is a deal breaker), but that doesn't bother me. Every other gun that I own other than 1911's has proprietary parts. Possible parts availability issues is life- especially outside of the realm of firearms. So, I don't sweat it.
I ordered it from Guns.com, and I can't wait to run it. It'll be my first bull barrel, so I'm looking forward to the new experience. It'll also be my first Springfield 1911.
That's been my philosophy- this is a journey, and my goal is to not lament the wrong turns, just keep moving and enjoying.
If you have an experience with the Ronin EMP, I would love to hear it, as I wait for mine to ship and arrive.
