Can't really call it a leading role, I guess, but have to mention Tom Hanks' 1911 blowing up a tank in Saving Private Ryan. Even though that anti-gun POS Matt Damon was in it.
I am in agreement here. That Government Model is on display from at first when he pulls it out of the custom insert of the glove box of that Pontiac until the final shootout. Close second would be the Officer's Model that Al Pacino carries in Heat and then Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan.
Not saying the best, but I'll throw in some honorable mentions-
- Al Pacino in Heat (Colt Officer's)
- Johnny Strong in Sinners & Saints (TRP) and Daylight's End (Colt Gov't)
- Colin Farrell and the rest of the team in SWAT (Kimber TLE II, I think?)
- John Berenthal in the Punisher series on Netflix (another Kimber)
- Brad Pitt in Mr/Mrs Smith (Colt Gov't)
- Even John Wick cameo'd a Kimber in JW2
How ‘bout one Colt that didn’t get its justified cameo appearance by Faye Dunaway in the 1967 movie, “Bonnie and Clyde”. Bonnie reportedly had it in her lap and it fell and was found on the floorboard.
I found this YouTube compilation video...some of it is dubbed into foreign languages, but the 1911s make themselves understood.
