Hi, everyone. I'm going to buy a Kimber Custom TLE but I can't decide between the black or stainless. Please help me by posting any photos you may have of your stainless or black Kimber TLE pistols. And I'm curious which you prefer and why. Thanks everyone!

The main advantage of a stainless gun is that it easier to refinish. A little bead blasting and you're go to go. This means customizing the frame or slide is a little easier. For example, if you wanted a blended magwell put in, the pistol smith can do his work without having to refinish the whole gun. Just bead blast the areas needed and you're good to go.

Also, the colored finish that Kimber uses is not all that durable. Expect to see some minor holster and handling wear to be visible after about 4 months of daily carry. (I owned and carries a Kimber Aegis Elite, but I think the finish on the TLE is the same.)

That said, I think black looks better.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you, the black does look better.

I have 2 black, one stainless and one two tone 1911. I can’t make up my mind!
