Pistol Sight with Magnification, no red dot question

I recently fired a pistol at a showcase at a range near me. There was 15 manufacturers there and 60 weapons and 5 shots per weapon, only cost me $25 and I got free noise cancelling hearing protection muffs too.
I shot a pistol (not a 1911) and it had a magnifier type sight without a red dot. There was a circle in the middle with cross-hairs. I loved it and it was great for me since I need to use the top-focal shooting glasses because I need reading glasses to properly see my iron sights. I would still need to use the top-focals, but I could see the sights and the target clearly with that sight.
I have tried various searches and its just all crowded with red dots, so I am having a hard time trying to find it and investigate it.
Now I was stupid and did not write anything down at the showcase. So I was curious if someone here could help point me in the right direction to locate a sight like this that I could mount on a 1911. I understand I will have to have slide work to mount it and have a good custom builder near me.
Any help would be appreciated.

it sounds like what you shot was a pistol scope. Was it also mounted on a semi auto? Typically I've seen this done via a frame mount that comes up and over the slide. Adding all that weight to the slide can impede function and it's probably just harder on the scope.
But, I could be wrong, I've not seen any kind of magnified sight that's installed directly to the slide of a 1911
Call up your place that held this and get a list of the vendors.
I'm curious

Your point about the weight problem is pretty good.
I guess I need to do a little research with my local gunsmith.

I have a list from the promo. I will post it later.

Was it gigantic like a rifle scope, or similarly sized to a red dot?

I don't know what the optic might have been, but Accuracy X makes a picatinny module for their optic system interface, allowing you to put whatever optic on their 1911/2011 slides. Steve put out a video where it cycles wearing a gigantic slide-mounted revolver scope.

I have a 5-6+ounce rifle scope (mini ACOG) on my Glock 40, and it hasn't caused any function issues after several hundred rounds (maybe close to 1000, I don't keep real careful track) in three different chamberings.

A few years back a buddy had a 6" Dan Wesson .357 magnum with a 4X scope mounted on it. It just had the basic cross hairs as it was from the early 80's before all these crazy reticles they are putting into scopes today. I was picking things off at 25 and 50 yards like it was nothing. I can see your interest in a scoped pistol. Colt came out with a Python hunter package in a metal case that had a magnification scope on it. I haven't seen too many lately, I think the trend may have just died out except in the long distance steel challenges and hunting applications.
This picture is taken closer to the scope than your eye would actually be, so the true sight picture is a bit more shrunken. But my ACOG makes it pretty easy to score 100 yard hits on that 10" Throom you can see left of the reticle.

ETA: it's the 1.5x16. Any other model would be too large for this application, not to mention that the eye relief on this one is astoundingly forgiving.

It's a custom mount.

it was a little bigger than a red dot, but no where near as big as a rifle scope. Maybe 2-3 inches in length

Was the reticle illuminated or plain black? Tubular scope body? Was it mounted in rings or integral/bottom mount?

See, I used it, looked at it, thought that's cool, then I moved on to the next one. Later I thought, I really liked that, how stupid I did not take a picture of it. It was about the same width as at red dot, maybe a hair wider, maybe 3" at the most. But to be honest I could have that wrong. I am pissed I did not pay better attention to that sight. I just did not look it over like I would normally. The guns and rifles were all lined up and I went down the line of range lanes and shot. I was the last one to shoot, then they break down and set up for the next vendors, so I tried to hurry for them.
I did take note of the Tavor x95 and I want one. but by the time I remembered the scope it was too late to go back.

Some folks used glass on Bullseye pistols, if you search that you'll find something. Here is a start The 4 Best .22 Pistol Scopes – Reviews 2021
What type of base?
What type of base?
I could not tell you. I was the last guy and they needed to break down for the next group to set up, so I did not get a good look at it.
Sorry, I wish I could give a better description. I would recognize the inside circle and crosshairs. like a rifle scope, but small and on a pistol.

Toss it up here if you ever do find it, if you wouldn't mind - I've been playing around with slide-mounting magnified optics and would be curious to look into that one myself, whatever it was.
