Maybe the migrant population heading north should see this ...
Looks like parts of Seattle to me; maybe there should be a contest.
Hate seeing homeless people, vets on top of that but they just want to blame others for their situations! I’ve got alcoholics and drug addicts in my immediate family and not one of them got better until they took responsibility for their habits! Of course there was a ton of support once they did (which I’m not sure these people have) but they can’t continue to say it’s someone else’s fault that they’re in that situation even if that’s how they got there to start with! Like the vet that said he didn’t get his voucher for a place to stay and the reporter asked him if he kicked his drug habit and said “nah”??????!!!!
That’s what you get when you let dumbocraps win elections.
As bad as that looks poverty in 3rd world countries is far worse. Spend some time in really poor countries and you'll have zero empathy for our homeless.
You are very correct in that statement. Almost no countries outside this one have a "safety-net" for its citizens. Is the present system ideal? Far from it, but I encounter patients every night in my emergency department that are homeless, have horrific "societal issues" with drug and alcohol addiction along with ironically compounded problems such as tobacco abuse(how can someone who has to be given meals in a shelter afford even a 6 dollar a day habit, not to mention polysubstance abuse?) This country's homeless population is of epidemic proportions and growing exponentially. Another irony that I sometimes have seen is that this is basically evident in American citizens and I rarely see foreign nationals who are homeless. Why? They were raised in a culture without a system to catch them if they fall and also usually in a culture where family typically cares for their own. So they rarely take the chances to not try and work. These observations are really born out of my observation that our culture is in part, responsible for these failings. As mentioned above, we don't always hold people responsible for their behaviour, we have a system that provides and does not incur an obligation for these same services and has made the war on drugs more about enforcement and less about rehabilitation.
Mayer calls his "homeless" issue a "National Disgrace"?
How about an L.A./Kali disgrace FIRST? How about- it's a product of your decisions/choices.
Enjoy your Socialist Utopia Dou($e Bags.
Always eager to use the guilt trip card for Federal Funds, but we can kiss their ass when it comes to following Federal laws- immigration/sanctuary/etc.
Garcetti is a POS.
So lemmee get this straight...
Central & South Americans are all proud as peacocks of people like Simon Bolivar, Toussaint Louverture, José de San Martín, Francisco de Miranda, José María Morelos, Bernardo O'Higgins, Benito Juarez, et.al., for standing up "against the man (WHOEVER "the MAN" happened to be at the time)."
But did they get their claim to fame, by joining a homeless caravan, and retreating to "somewhere else?" Or did they TAKE UP ARMS, and try to WIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE, like THESE guys?!
If you wanna be free of "the MAN"... yer gonna HAFTA do SOME of it yourselves!
Besides... it's NOT like Obama & Holder didn't send you PLENTY of weapons recently...
Not just skid row, they're all over CA. It's also not just drug or mental problems. Housing in major portions of CA. is staggering. Even good people are finding they can't afford it and start the spiral into homelessness they can't beat. I'm from CA and moved years ago because it's a one party system and fixes nothing. Spends millions on high speed trains, raises gas taxes so the less than well off can't afford to drive to work. Millions for high speed trains should have been spent on fire fighting planes. Costs of fighting fires for the last two years is in the billions.
