I may regret asking this. Lol.

I’d like to hear how y’all would feel if in my present predicament.

I’ll try my damndest to keep the other party unknown in hopes that it will get corrected.

AND HERE WE GO....

I have a DW in order from Keith that will be a matte blue. Since it will be a classic style pistol (A2) I wanted a classic look to my grips but still the function I’m used to.

I love Harrison carry groove grips. VZ was unwilling to cut custom ivory colored G10 if I asked Mr Harrison’s permission. Don’t blame them.

So the next step was to find someone to coat them.

I thought I found a company that would knock it out of the park.

So I contacted them.

This was their response:

So I ordered the grips from Mr Harrison. Had them shipped directly to the coating company. That was last week of February.

I get a message this past Monday from Mr Harrison asking if I knew why grips he sold me (invoice still in the box) had been shipped to him.

They coaters did the job then rather than confirm with me shipped them back to where they came from.

When i contacted the coater they said I had not filled out an order form from their website and didn’t know that was part of the process since I had communicated with them 100% via email. So...Mr Harrison graciously shipped them to me. On my dime, not the coater.

They arrived today.

Remember our conversation.

Remember the ivory picture examples I provided.

Remember they said they would mix the custom color.

To me they look like a mechanic did a brake job then handled white grips!

Did I not convey my wants properly?

Their response:

I have since responded and noted that I had asked for a mixed ivory color.

I’m waiting on a response and a hope for them to remedy this.

IMO the coating company should have provided you with sample pics or at least a "done, ready to ship if you like em" pic. That said you also could've asked for such pics. Many folks in the gun industry bend over backwards to make sure their products satisfy their customers. I also understand that many are getting more and more automated so stuff like this happens. While I wouldn't be happy with the results, I'm honestly a bit surprised that they even made em and shipped them if their order form is so important to them. What was their response when you contacted them?

Their lack of command of the Engritch language and spelling skillz would have been my first red flag.

While not the best grammar I’ve seen I didn’t want them to write a copyright application just do what they are known for.

Their fine print may have me holding a set of grimy $130 grips.

May be a DIY situation here, otherwise I would strongly suggest you find a grip maker that works with G10, and have them create a pair in the color of your choice?

I'd get giraff or synthetic ivory/bone grips and have someone cnc the grooves in. Painting those will never turn out right in my opinion.

You didn't buy any patterns or artwork. You bought a paint job. They agreed to match your sample. They did not meet their contractual obligation to match the example given. I would push back. Challenge the charge on the credit card.

Let them "work through it" to your satisfaction, then approve the transaction.

Interesting reply.

It’s true he hadn’t invoiced me yet. I had asked him in a previous message if he wanted me to pay. He didn’t respond and I had kind of figured it would be in the box.

At this point do I really have anything to lose from sending them back?! Beyond more shipping fees!

Wonder if I can find a suitable “ivory” color sample card at the home improvement store? Just send that to them.

Have them mix to match as closely as possible and be done.

While I am the rookie here with all the great knowledge and extremely helpful membership here would it not be wise to possibly find an addict in the area of said company who could possibly hand deliver a sample? Again completely understand you don't want to name said company however a location might help you find an addict who would be willing to drive over and say this is ivory you painted them white.
