It seems easier said than done. I align the link with the slide stop pin hole and put the slide stop in and it will seat flush down
towards the trigger guard, but when i pull it out a little to go to snap it in being carefull to not scratch the frame. IT snaps in but
does not seat flush, it sticks out gust a little. This is drivin me nuts. No matter which position i hold the gun or how many times
the same thing. WTH, am i doing wrong. This is my new DWCCO. Help PLS.:frusty:

Knedgr, I can't send pic's now but it is in and you can rack the slide and everything seems to work ok. But it is not flat flush
on the frame. And i don't think i should shoot it this way. It might be ok to do,but it is supposed to be flat with the frame. Just don't
know why it's not seating in all the way when it snaps in?

Sounds to me like the plunger is clicking into that "shelf" on the top of the head.

The DW CCO finish makes it easier to insert the SS but harder to modify it for even easier insertion.

The logman on TOS came up with a simple fix for any tough slide stop that refuses to go in. I've filed several with a needle file and it takes maybe 10 or 15 minutes and you're done. Here's the link. The first post shows where to file. It works and does not affect the function of the notch doing its job at all. After filing, NO MORE IDIOT SCRATCHES and you'll be amazed how easy it is to insert the stop into position..................

Grainfed I did that to 4 of mine but the DW finish won't let me in. I need to get some better files. Luckily, it slides in with no issues.

Another testament on how tough the Duty Treatment (aka melonite) really is.

Quack had had a similar issue with trying to fit a TS that came off my DW CCO.

I guarantee you that the melonite finish will give way to an idiot scratch, though, if you aren't careful.

The4 logman notch is SOP for any 1911 I get.. Jay uses his "rotary tool" and then touches it up with the file. Two seconds at most.. Ron

Looking forward to the photos. I hope the damage isn't too bad. Did you have it lined up with the takedown notch, or nearly so?
