Range trip with a variety

I headed up to the range today wanting to try out the two Colts Commanders I got a couple of weeks ago.
One is a 9mm and the other was the Custom .22 Commander Conversion. Since I was taking one "P" shooter I decided to take another one. I grabbed the Ruger I got from Karl and what .22 ammo I had left.
Thinking I needed to shoot something with a little bit bigger bang. I also packed up the TCC 10 miller.

I unpacked it all, hung out a couple of targets and loaded up all the mags. It was then that I went to grab my phone for a pic or two........... ALAS!!! I realized it was sitting at home on my den desk. :(

Soooooooooo .... here's my question.
"If I shot those four lead throwers and there are no pictures. Did it really even happen????"

So I'll bite.... What was the outcome? I'm really interested in how the 22 Commander shot!

I guess I could ask the R.O. to send me some of the monitoring video from today. o_O

Surely someone has pictures or video? The phone people are everywhere.

I've never seen one and I'd like to! I've got a government that shoots really well and that's not what is typically said about them?

This was originally a Gov't conversion. The slide was sectioned & welded. The barrell was shortened, weld build up on the end and turned down for correct dia. It was installed on a .45 Combat Commander frame.
Sounds easy, lol. Who did the work?

I have no idea but they did a hell of a job. I got the two Colts from a firearm estate sale.

Diversity means more fun. More fun means good times. With a selection like this, even if you just “imagined” that you went to the range, the pleasure felt should be enough to put a smile on your face.

What is the type “texturing” called on that trigger and the hammer? Hammered, stippled…??? Looks really elegant and goes very nicely with the bluing.

I think the term often used is called jeweled.

well done, B. I love shooting a good Ruger 22 and owning a TCC is just a dream for me. No pics required for me as I know you as an honest man, seriously. And perhaps if I could still see better than I do, I wouldn't need to post pics from 10 years ago!!

That is the nicest .22 Colt conversion I've seen. The manuals always warn against lead ammo, but that has not been my experience at all and in fact the opposite. I have no evidence other than anecdotal and my sample size is only a few, but 40gr. solids were what I found to shoot the best. Ruger Standard Auto's, Mk I & II's are some of the most fun I've had with a .22.....until you have to put it back together(it's all in the angle of the dangle). I bought a MKIV 22/45 and though I prefer the Ruger grip frame, the takedown method of the MKIV is so much better. I can't wait to get my hands on a 10" MKIV and/or MKII Great Eight.

Good times. I hope you find a load the Commander really likes and that it just stacks them on top of each other. It is impossibly beautiful and supremely cool. I don't know what more you could ask for in a custom .22 conversion on a 1911. Congratulations again on that score. It's just wonderful.

Buster, if you ever get a line on who did the work to the Colt Commander 22, please share with me. I'd love to have a duplicate of yours down to the rear sight.
Simply awesome!
Congratulations on a rare find.
