    Also, I'm told by a usually reliable source with a history of consistent accuracy that the STI Spartan is assembled in the US with Rock Island parts. Haven't personally verified this, though.

    p.s. - haven't seen an actual new Ruger but am told they are incredibly lame.

    I've read conflicting information.
    A. The frame, slide & barrel are made by Armscor
    B. The Spartan is manufactured & assembled in the Phillipines then inspected at STI

    Spartan is built by Armscor in the Philippines using some STI small parts.

    Ive been told the same. In addition, I met an STI rep at a gun store shorty before moving to PA. He told me the Sparatan sells are killing the Trojan sells in his region.

    Sooo, it is built in the Philippines with STI parts? I thought it was put together by STI with Armscor slides and frames.

    built in the PI, using STI small parts, Armscor barrel/slide/frame and final QC is by STI

    I gotta agree. I don't get too hung up on the "where it's made" stuff, especially when we're talking about an under $1000 1911.

    I agree. I've heard it's a good bang for the buck. I've yet to handle one, but I'd like to see how they're fit.
