So I’m wanting to ream a few 9mm barrels to accept 9x23 ammunition. I think all I have to do is buy a 9x23 reamer and give it a go?
I converted my DW Valor from 9mm to 9x23 by purchasing a barrel from DW and installing it in my slide, add a 38 super magazine and I’m blazing away with great accuracy.
Anyone know why this won’t work?
Thanks in advance.

Can you verify the barrel after reaming will withstand the SAAMI pressures of the intended ammunition?

This has been done to the 9mm Valor @Steve Owens built for me.
He fit a new KKM Barrel in 38 Super, and reamed out the 9mm barrel
to 9x23 Win. He had a reamer made for the job.

Also have this WC XTac Elite with WC barrels in 38 Superb, and 9mm, and
A Nowlin barrel in 9x23win.

They're both tapered cases, the 9X23 (obviously) longer.

I would expect lengthening to 9X23 to "work".
Oppps did not read close enough. Thought the 38 Super was where you were starting from and that cannot be done correctly. A lot easier to start with a 9x23 tube to begin with than modify a 9mm but as long as the smith knows what they are doing may be a ok choice.

A couple years ago I was considering this myself. As I recall, there are 2 different reamer styles for 9X23 Win. The difference is in the throating/freebore. Just something to think about before you buy a reamer.
I would use the SAAMI spec period.
