I’ve been contemplating how to make my MRDS Quick Reference Cards more easily accessible for 2025.

One issue I have is even I can never remember the link to my Google Drive. Another is the cards are hosted on Google, which I am not thrilled with. And, having to physically print the cards seems...old school.

To address this, I’ve started to develop a web enabled version using Wordpress, which offers a free hosting service.

To render the cards to be seen in a phone or tablet without using reading glasses, I’ve recast them in single columns, at 5.5” x 6.5” page size. This deletes the second copy you got when printing, but enables the cards to be legible, without a lot of shrinking or stretching.

The downside means that the cards are no longer ‘camera ready’ for printing. But I feel that the benefits of moving them to a web site outweighs this by a good margin. After all, it is 2024, and we are connected to our phones and tablets.

The web site is:

You should see a very basic landing page with explanatory text, a disclaimer, and then a list of MRDS QRCs grouped by optic manufacturer (i.e. they are organized pretty much like they are now.)

The web site has begun to be populated with content; I'd say I'm maybe 25% in to converting them to the new format.

My aim was to make this as fast and easy to access as possible, given the limits of the "free" web hosting that Wordpress offers. There is no (and never will be) any advertising or monetization features on the site, its just the cards, that's it. Bear in mind I'm pretty much the last person that should be designing web sites, so if you have constructive comments, be gentle. :)

If an optic you would like is not yet ready, give me some time to get to it. If you need a card, they will still be available in printable hard copy form (same content) on the google drive through the end of the year, at a minimum.

Card revision for this effort will be Rev 14 (yes, I’m skipping 13.)

Initial conversion and upload of all current MRDS QRCs is now complete.

The complete set of cards is now online at Rev 14.

MRDS Quick Reference Cards

I'm currently planning to leave the "print" version online at my Google drive for as long as possible. I don't plan on implementing any upgrades or revisions to Rev 12 (print.) Any/all updates, new cards, fixes or what not will be done here, at the online version, going forward into 2025.

Engineering Notice 20241202: QRC for C-More RTS3B and Sig Sauer Romeo 3 Max Pro added.

Two new QRCs have been added to the online repository.

Direct links are below, or you can access them from the web site main menu by manufacturer.

RTS3B:

https://mrdsqrc.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cm_rts3b.pdf

Romeo 3 Max Pro:

https://mrdsqrc.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/rom-3mp_14.pdf

I had to lean in a little bit on the RTS3B with some guess work. The C-More web site indicates they will release the user manual in 2025. So the card is "preliminary", and based more or less on the feature list etc.

The R 3 Max Pro should be good to go.

With regard to updates, I think perhaps I will look at the market each year around the time of SHOT show.

Accordingly, if you are aware of a recently released, or existing optic that needs to have a QRC created, please let me know, and I will try and generate it by the end of January.

That’s a really helpful thing to have. Thank you. I have a Trijicon and Leupold and can never remember how these work.
I'm glad to hear you find them useful. I agree about remembering things; it's getting harder and harder. My wife says I have "CRS Syndrome" (*).

This activity is complete. For the remainder of the year, I'm going to throttle back on searching out for new optics, and focus on any needed updates, and perhaps add any breakthrough optic that comes out say at NRA or major shows.

Through today, the site has had 920 views with 221 visitors, lifetime. In the last 30 days, visitors have come from the United States, Germany, and Chile. I have 3 subscribers. The three most popular QRCs downloaded by number were:

aim_coa_15-1.pdf (15)
r_x_cmpct_14-2.pdf (13)
rit_tac_prd_2_15.pdf (10)

I appreciate all the positive comments, and am always glad to hear these are useful.

I am pleased to announce that the MRDS QRC collection will be undergoing an upgrade for 2025 to Revision 16.

Over the course of the next few months, all QRCs will be revised to include their optic window dimensions (actual), as well as their specific reticle color and size information. This will also include a graphical representation of the window and reticle, drawn to scale, on each card.

A separate post will be made when this activity is approximately 50% complete, and when the last card is done.

The first card to be upgraded to Rev 16 is Sig Sauer's Romeo-X Compact open emitter MRDS. This optic is among the most popular cards downloaded, based on the Wordpress site statistics. This QRC is now "live" and can be accessed through the MRDS QRC web page as normal, or via the direct link below:

If you have already subscribed to the site, thank you. I always appreciate the interest in these cards, and glad to hear if they are useful.

As of this morning, 38 of 75 MRDS QRCs have been upgraded to Revision 16, or just over 50%. These include the most popular QRCs downloaded by users, including:
  • Aimpoint QRCs (COA and ACRO P-2)
  • Sig Sauer Romeo X and Romeo X Compact QRCs
  • All 12 Holosun EPS and EPSc QRCs
  • All Holosun K Series QRCs
  • Holosun C series 507c, 507COMP, 508T-RD X2 and 509T X2 QRCs
  • All Trijicon QRCs
  • ...As well as new QRCs for optics such as the OSIGHT X and S, and Primary Arms HTX-1

Details of which specific MRDS have new Rev 16 QRC versions are provided in the "change log" area at the bottom of the main site page. The previous versions were left "live", in order to avoid 404 errors if users have made bookmarks to them. New versions can be reached by clicking on the web site as usual.

The most frequent card downloaded is the Sig Sauer Romeo X Compact, with the new Rev 16 layout.

As part of this effort, I decided to highlight the footprint and emitter type (open / closed), because I think that information is critical to evaluating an optic in 2025. (I have been collecting some statistics on this, which I will finalize and post once all QRCs are upgraded to Rev 16.)

Since launch last October, the site has had 1,871 views with 509 visitors. The site has been reached from the United States, Switzerland, Finland, Canada, South Africa, Chile, Canada and Romania in the last 30 days. (Whether these are bots or web crawlers, I can't tell). Either way, I'm glad to see the views.

As always, I appreciate all the interest and support for these cards, and am happy to find if they are useful.

I promised to provide some statistics on the cards, which I can do now, as the update cycle is complete.
Image

The smallest window by area is the Aimpoint COA, the largest Sig's Romeo 3 Max Pro, and the average optic has an area around 6 / 10 ths of a square inch.

Emitter Type

Almost 40% of the QRCs are for a red dot with a closed emitter. I don't have data on previous years, but it seems to me this percentage is larger than last year, and certainly relative to when I started doing these cards back in 2021.

Footprints

The three most common footprints, by card, are the RMSc/K Series (39%), RMR (22%) , and DPP (16%), in that order. The remaining cards footprints (17) are spread out into an "other" category. (I grouped K Series in with RMSc, since despite them being "slightly" different, in that Holosun chose not to fully comply with the standard in their implementation of the recoil bosses, the hole spacing is the same).

There are a lot of K Series (21%) and RMSc (18%) cards. This is perhaps somewhat skewed as I opted to separately build all 12 Holosun EPS and EPSc QRCs. But still, there are a lot of them. And despite being an older standard, there are still quite a few cards with Trijicon's RMR footprint. The majority of the DPP cards are from Sig (makes sense; they call it "Sig Pro" but I class it into DPP).

Reference the "other" footprints, here is the break out of those 17. The most common of these is the ACRO, with four QRCs to that footprint, across three optic makers (Aimpoint ACRO P-2, Steiner MPS, and Viridian RFX44 and RFX45.) There are two each C-MORE, SIG-LOC, and Docter/Noblex QRCs, all the rest of the footprints are unique, only having one QRC, each.

Industry Trends?

If you count RMSc/K Series, RMR and DPP, as a group, it would cover 78% of the optic QRCs footprints. Obviously the missing factor is multiplying QRCs by optic sales numbers, so in no way is this any kind of MRDS market share estimate. But still, it's a fair bet to say these three standards are very common as of 2025. Springfield Echelon's Variable Interface System and Ruger's RXM dowel pin approach both support all three of these footprints. I think this approach, using flat, factory milled slides with reconfigurable insertable pins, is where industry is going to continue to head, and not so much, say, to proprietary footprints such as the RMRcc.

Whether Glock and Aimpoint can succeed with the A-CUT COA remains to be seen. They are obviously powerhouses in the LEO and .civ market, so it will be interesting to see if anyone else jumps on the A-CUT bandwagon after the one year exclusive agreement to sell Glocks with COAs pre-mounted expires.

Are you a department or unit armorer, or just want a library of all QRCs for reference? A compressed zip file of all MRDS QRCs at Revision 16 is now available at the link below.

Follow the link to download the *.zip file, then extract the files to populate a directory with all 76 QRCs. Note: File (wordpress_2025_Rev16.zip) size is 3.8 Mb.

Thank you for saving the wear and tear on my mouse finger! (y):p:love:
You are very welcome. :)

Let me know if you have any trouble unpacking the zip file. It's hosted on my Google drive via a link from the web site. I've tested it, but am always interested in confirmation by actual users.
