Can a machinist cut in rail into a pistol? I suppose it depends on how thick the metal is at that point.
Is there such a thing as an add on rail for a light?

On a STI/SVI with full length dust cover, you can cut a rail... those are wider than 1911 dust covers. On a 1911, one has to be screwed or welded on. Novak and Dawson both made add on rails, though I think only Novak's is still made. Surefire makes a detachable model that's held on with the slide stop pin.

Thanks - that's what I thought. An add-on rail may throw everything of if it squeezes the cover. I wonder if there is an add on for a plastic gun, just curious - best thing is to buy a gun with one
