After reading my friend @Scaramouche hikeing post , I thought y’all might be interested in what bikers do for athlete adventures.

Thanks @tac45 , I don't know if you saw my posts about the NRA Whittington shoot, but during that week in northern New Mexico we met Muriel, age 76, motorbiking from Vermont & took her with us to @nmbuzz 's house for a elk steak dinner with the hardy forum members who joined us out there. If I remember right it was her seventh cross continental trip on two wheels. She was headed to Santa Monica solo.

Nice. Is it a race, an accident filled ride or a crash contest?

Most of my family members have ridden the tail of the dragon multiple times, only accident was my dad dropped his bike on a soft berm!
I’m on the trip list this year with both my brothers!!! Can’t wait.

Ride to your abilities and don’t push to hard , that’s why a lot of sport bikes end up on the tree .
Have fun and be safe. !
Don’t forget to visit Wheels Through Time in Deals Gap ,and say hello to Dale ,
When he says he’ll start any of his collection, ask him to start the Crocker. :roflmaro:

I rode the Tail of the Dragon on a 1997 Kawi Concours, and a 198? Yamaha Venture. Drug the chrome trim on the bags, both sides, on the Venture. Buddy wrecked the Concours (mine) on the Blue Ridge Parkway long after we attempted suicide on the Tail. This was 1998.

Haven't been back since then, heard it's heavily policed now. Wasn't bad then.

    Excellent post.

I rode the Dragon in 2003 with my wife as a passenger on my Harley Road King . Beautiful scenery but don't ride fast with a big bike ( think school bus ) , or you'll end up like some in Tac's photos .
The Tail of the Dragon is more for rice burners in my opinion . Challenging , to be sure .
Note : The " Tree of Shame " is real !
