I just put a Ruger 10/22 tactical on layaway. I couldn't help it. It's a cool little rifle. So, that's all I was gonna say.

I had a choice to make. The Ruger, or a vintage Remington Nylon 66 (my favorite .22 of all time) but in the end I chose the new gun.

Good choice with the 10/22. You can turn it into whatever you want it to be. If you need help with it let me know.

What year model was that 66?

Any idea what the best scope for this gun would be?

    Congrats,

I have a few 10/22s in various configurations as well.

Which scope depends on your primary use. For quick, close targets a good red-dot is hard to beat (I like the M3 clones from Primary Arms).

For general hunting/plinking use, I prefer a low-power variable like the Nikon Pro Staff 2x-7x.

For bench-rested paper-punching a high powered variable is probably best, but I'm not a fan of that discipline, so can't really recommend a particular model.

As CMG suggested,.......a scope in the 2-6, or there abouts, power would be best.

Like this one? I bought if for the grand-kids (6 & 8) as its light and the stock collapses to a very short LOP.

    Volquartsen sear, hammer and springs,
Yellow Jacket buffer & a picatinny rail

Very nice sir. Thanks for sharing. I remember many years ago wishing for a 10/22 pistol but there were none to be had. I've been watching these for a while...may have to pick one up just for fun.

Scott Volquartsen built a 10/22 pistol years ago.

His rifles are awesome, and so is his service after the sale!
