I have a chance to purchase a stainless Ruger Police Service Six .38 Special. I'm waiting on serial number info from the guy but I do know that it has been fired very little and has no scratches or holster wear. He has no box or paperwork with it and I'm not sure if the grips are original. I know that Ruger put out some in the 80's with rubber grips but I thought they had a medallion which is not present on this one. He's asking $450 for it and that sounds high to me but I really don't know. I'd appreciate any help on this as I'm no expert. Sorry about the poor pic - it's all I
have right now.

Actually I would say that is a decent price if you are looking for a shooter. Hard to find a Service Six that hasn't been run hard. If you are a collector, the missing box is a deal killer. Not too hard to find grips, see them pop up on the Ruger forum every so often. I actually prefer the older Rugers over the GP100 series. If that was available locally, and I had the $, I'd buy it.
