In terms of 45 silencers, the obsidian is still one of the best choices. If you were only after 9mm, there's been a ton of new cans that are much better.

The 9mm endcap on the 45 obsidian does have a risk of endcap strike. Its a pretty well known issue at this point. Also there isn't much of a shoulder for the silencer to seat on a 1911 barrel, so you will have to check for tightness pretty frequently. You are correct though, a suppressed 1911 is a definite flex, but it will get dirty very fast.
