I took my S&W 625 Mountain Gun in .45 ACP (purchased from a fellow Addict) out for a fresh range-run recently, logging exactly 186 rounds. It’s super-easy to keep up with the round-count, as I’d pre-loaded 31 six-round moon clips with an assortment of JHP and SWC rounds.

I didn’t get to work on drawing the gun from concealment during this session, as I’d also taken along a 1911 and had an IWB holster on already for that gun. Reloads were done from concealment using two Jeffrey Custom “Moon Pouches,” yet another item selected based on a referral from a fellow Addict. Shots taken were mostly 2- and 3-shot strings including some failure drills / Mozambique drills, all from a low-ready position. Targets shown were shot at 10 yards.

This revolver continues to impress me. It’s fun to shoot and makes a sound concealed-carry option thanks to both the Jeffrey pouches and a Barranti Leather Summer Classic IWB holster. I’ve carried this setup a few times now and it works quite well.

    Thanks for looking!

The tapered barrel .45s are well proportioned guns. I feel like I missed out on the earlier Springfield Armory Commemorative of that type.

Beautiful, I love the S&W revolvers in .45auto. And, yep, great carry option, as you've got it setup. Congratulations on a fine piece!

It’s hard to argue with results like that! A sound rebuttal to the “capacity trumps all else” Glockboy fan club. I have that argument all the time at the range, when I’m shooting what they call my dinosaur; a single stack 1911 in .45 ACP. What you have there is a solid daily carry setup. Congratulations ~

I really like the balance and feel of the mountain guns. I have one in 45 colt and one in 44 magnum. Someday if I run into one I’ll get one in 45HCP just for grins.

I’ve got a question, and it may be stupid or already answered somewhere. Isn’t it possible to buy a Mountain Gun in .45 LC, and have it modified to take full moon clips, thereby making it dual chambered for .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt?

Go to Tenring.com and read about the .45 Colt/ACP conversion.

Awesome gun Sir . I think an S&W N frame with a tapered barrel is a great looking and handling gun. Very nice shooting!!

LoL, just a question man! I was thinking of cheaper ammo, as well as compatibility across pistols. I have several in .45 ACP, and at this time none in .45 Colt. I own a Single Six in .22 LR and .22 magnum, as well as a couple of .44 mags that can shoot .44 special, .44 Russian etc. It just sounds like a cool way to be more flexible.

Sure, anything is possible with enough $$$$. But you will need to adjust your sights with each different load.
I have decided the 45 ACP cartridge will handle everything I need to shoot with a handgun. Here are some of my 4”, ACP revolvers.
