I've been looking for something else to collect besides 1911's and I don't think I'm a revolver guy so with all the down time lately I decided to read up and start looking at the early S&W Semi's and boy there's lots of models.

I found this chart, which was pretty helpful and started reading every little bit I could and watching some YouTube videos (which there was a lot of) and was surprised how many people like this little classics.

So, I started my GB search looking for new, or LNIB, examples and these are the first two I got today.

At heart I'm a single stack 1911 guy so I was drawn to this Model 39-2, it feels great in the hand and I'm excited to shoot it. The trigger is pretty smooth in DA and feather light in SA. It should prove to be interesting to play with.

Of course being Don Johnson wanna-be in the late 80's I needed a silver S&W but I'm not a 45 guy and I'm not a full size guy so this 9mm double stack 6906 should be fun to play with.

Next you need to check out the 3913. When you really get into the game check out the 952-2, then the 5906. If you can find a 952-1 blued, it is going to be really pricey by now. No collection should be without them.

I always liked the Shorty Forty guns from the performance center. I prefer the 952 series though.

As mentioned above, consider some of S&W's third generation semi-autos from the Performance Center (e.g., PPC, 845, 945, 952).

They can be somewhat challenging to find and are not cheap, but they are fantastic pistols!

@KS95B40 nice stuff, something to inspire towards, I was drawn to the history of them and the fact that can be picked up reasonably priced (well at least compared to 1911's)

Thanks. I don’t remember exactly what I paid for the 439, under $350 and the others were all under $300 each.
The 915 and the 6904 were in virtually new condition plus both came with extra mags.

The Gen 3's are probably the most under rated firearms of all time.
The P/C and specialty 1911's aren't bad either.

Well you started out with the best with the 39. You need to have a 59 (blue only please and the earlier the better lol), a 645, 745, 4567 and to really get deep an FBI issued/returned 1076.

Forget anything with a caliber than starts with a "4" and ends in "0". :laugh: Well maybe either a California Highway Patrol or Colorado State Patrol marked 4006 but nothing else!!:cool2:

Oh and save your pennies to a get a 4563 CQB (all black preferably) from the Performance Center heehee.

The last of any of those that I owned was this 4567, got talked out it (that happens a lot to me it seems) last year.

I'm more of single stack 9mm guy so that's why I picked the Model 39 over the 59. The 6906 was just to have one double stack in the S&W collection

I'd like to add a 439 or 639 next. I'm trying to stay with complete sets, unfired or lightly fired and build up a small collection.
