Dang, double post.
looks like more fun t han I am going to have . yumm
I'll take it.
AOC looking at you right now like
Watcha cooking, I have a Weber bullet smoker always did chicken, ribs and pork butt. I have been afraid I will ruin a brisket. I do a lot of reading on the Amazing Ribs website. They have good info. there
12 lbs. of some really lean pork loin . . . . . .
Copious quantities of mesquite wood in with the charcoal. Got a new meat slicer (posted in the impulse buy thread) that needs a workout. Pot luck dinner at church tonight. I'm keeping back 4 lbs. for "personal consumption."
Sounds Delicious, enjoy
Every now and then I think about getting a smoker and learning to use it, but then I remember that I'm 20 minutes from one of the best BBQ joints in the South and my natural laziness kicks in.
I might get pretty good at it, but they'd still do it better. That does look good, though.
12 lbs. of pork loin - about $18
Half a bag of mesquite wood - about $3
A bit of starter charcoal - about $2
I will be feeding a bunch of folks for $23 - no tip required. And I get to drink a beer or three (OK, two) while cooking it.
How much was the smoker? Not arguing, just curious.
I bought it 16 years ago (2003) for about $120.
It's an old Brinkman. Haven't seen one in this style for quite a long time. Everything these days are high tech with the pellets, Bluetooth temp gauges, etc.
Not knowing how those pellets are made, how they "hold together," scares me.
I use large wood chunks.
I like old skool . . . .
I'm only three hours in. Got at least three to go and I just heard thunder . . .
No worries Zoid. It will keep cooking
I’ve run my smoker in the rain and snow
Might have to keep a closer eye on it, make sure the rain doesn’t cool it off to much.
Maybe get a big group text going about what you are doing.....
Jeez, at first I thought your gun safe blew up from the inside. Seems a little light on smoke.
Love me some loins. Got two of em in my smoker that I stuffed with shrimp boudin sausage that I made. Pics in a day or two. Gotta luv Saturdays! Enjoy
NOT. At least I don't get little "ding-a-lings" when y'all reply.
That's what drives me nuts . . . .
More thunder . . . .
I'm also back working on the stands again. Just had a great idea that I need to incorporate into the next batch.
There oughta be a law against thunderstorms on the weekend.
The local pro-2A chapter had an open carry picnic scheduled this afternoon but the weather doesn't look promising for them.
So little ding-a-lings annoy you ? Sorry, couldn’t resist. I swear I’m going to grow up before I get to 60.
