Anyone have experience with one? I'm sure I don't need one, the biggest appeal is it shares the same mags a my wifes carry, and the fact that I'm a hopeless addict! One popped up on the local forum and I have never really paid attention to them before.

I wish they'd get their site updated. They clearly made some iterative changes for the better, like the round butt.

Interesting pistol, looks to be quality. Not sure about the mag choice though, I'd hate to have to hang my hat on aftermarket mags, and the 10 round factory mags are....10 rounds. Still like to fondle one though.
The Shield mags are quality units. They make a 15rd. and you can get 5rd. extensions.

I wasn't so impressed with the S15 mags. Out of the first two I bought, one would drop free in my G48, the other would not. Inconsistent quality. And they seem to keep updating them, now on Gen 3 I believe.

Did you have their mag release installed? mine are the orange follower Gen 2.
I did, started with their original aluminum one which quickly wore out, then 'upgraded' to the steel one. The issue was the mag was a tight fit in the mag well.

I don’t think I’d pay their asking price. I don’t see it as being much more than a $4-500 pistol.

I may be a little late to answer your form question? But I recently purchased A/F 1911 S15 with about 600 rds through it now. So if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask...

I didn't realize that the S15 mags were $42 each. That's a bit steep, especially considering that Shield Arms keeps having design issues.

I bought a 3 pack with the release at Christmas for $99 for my ol' ladies G48. At the time I had no idea they were on there 3rd generation of design with a new manufacture and a fourth gen in the works. I'm still interested in the AF S15 but should really shoot one first, guns that didn't work out aren't as easy to sell as they were a year ago!!

Interested... considering s15 mags are regular g19 mags with the plastic stripped off...
Also Palmetto state is releasing 43x mags in 15 rd flavor. 800-900 price point I'd be all over it

Wasn't aware that PSA will be making 43X mags. I'll wait to see if those are a viable option for the AFS15.

Not sure I agree that the AFS15 only warrants $800-900, though. It's not a budget 1911. I mean, I'm not against lowering a price on a gun (it would ease the pain in my wallet, for sure, and I'm not above wishful thinking), but the features it has are not prevalent on any other sub-$1000 1911, plus it's not even a pure 1911 (it's more of a hybrid, is not Para-patterned, nor 2011-patterned). The parent company has history in building nice 1911s, from what I understand. I don't think they made a pricing mistake.
I've an AF1911-S15 on the way to me (w/ threaded barrel), as well as 3 Shield Arms mags.

I have one all ready & its a "sweet" gun. You will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately these have a polymer mag catch notch to be compatible with Glocks polymer catch, so won't be a viable option in the AF. BTW, the new S15 Gen3 mags aren't working well with mine, lots of feeding failures. I still need to take a deep dive into why.

So, I ordered 3 x gen 3 S15 mags. Do I need to order their mag catch to use late gen mags with the AFS15? Not sure which mag generation the gun comes with.

No. I'm sure they are still coming with gen 2's

I'm seeing the following at Shield Arms: Gen 2 and 3 magazines were designed to work with Shield Arms steel mag catches.

Just to be clear, if I order gen 3 mags, I should be able to use them in the AFS15 without also ordering the Shield Arms mag catches, right? I'm thinking I'm all good, but that's an 80% all good. I guess I'll find out in a few days! :)

Absolutely you can use your current mag catch. They are just referring to using them with Shield arms steel catches made for Glocks
