Got the new to me Colt S70 that I bought from ChuckC and I am smitten. This gun looks right, feels right, and shoots right. Even though it had some very nice double diamonds on it I swapped them out for a set of American holly grips DukeSoprano had made for me a while back and with the contrasting ivory color looks terrific. Chuck had sent it to the Colt Custom Shop for the 'tactical package' and he specified Harrison retro ignition set, rear sight, and trigger, the front sight it a Dawson night sight, and the grip safety is a Wilson concealment style. The finish is Ionbond DLC with brushed flats and matte rounds. I also put a Wilson FLGR in it because I'm the one guy that likes them, every gun I put one in feels like it runs a little smoother for it. The 25lpi checkering is secure in the hand and feels great, the trigger breaks clean at 3.5lbs, and it shoots to POA. Even the though the slide to frame fit is typical Colt the Kart bushing and the barrel fit keeps things lined up right. I didn't have time to set up a target but I had no trouble cutting down a 3" thick pine tree from about 12yds with 8rds of Federal 230gr Hi Shok. I hated to sell my S70 Competition to help pay for this one but it was worth it. There's an Action Pistol match at the local range this coming Sunday and I'll be running this gun to see how it does. I won Single Stack in the last two matches with the Competition so it's got big shoes to fill but I think it'll be up to the task.
