slidestop plunger

What does the slide stop plunger actually do other than making it difficult to insert the slide stop back in after disassembly?

That's its main function. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

But as long as its going to be there. It might as well apply a small amount of down force to the slide stop so it doesn't lock out the slide when it shouldn't.

Well, on the other end it's provide resistance on the thumb safety, for one thing.

Put the thumb safety and slide-stop in without the plunger spring and see for yourself
