Cosmoline...Military loved that stuff back in the day. Not sure if they still use it.

If they made a cosmoline cologne, I'd wear it. My wife would leave me.

    Wait...do they make cosmoline cologne?

Cracked open a case that was shipped from the Mt Rainier Ordnance Depot..... (MROD closed in 1963-- so they have been sitting there since the early '60's)

not cleaning them up...... that's for the next owners to do... they were part of an estate.....:cool2:

(two groovers, are you referring to the fore end? This one does not have that as it is a '42 production)

Nope, the barrel, two lands and grooves. Original 03A3 or 03A4 would have them, your production prolly has 4 each.

Oh that is really nice! I don't blame you for not cleaning it up, as an investment. But then I would hope you have another 1903 that you can shoot.

Yah man...it’s crazy to think that people had to fight for their lives with those mules! I remember dad let me shoot a 1903 when I was 8 or 9 and I was pretty impressed with the wallop.

Oh, I'm not keeping any as an investment, just helping my friend liquidate his parents' estate...

Well, when everyone else had a bolt action only rifle...it was even, but then ... WWII and SMGs and of course the American's with their semi-auto M1s, etc. etc. As Patton put it in his now famous remarks made to the Third Army on June 5, 1944:

"Why, by God, I actually pity those poor sons-of-bitches we're going up against. By God, I do".
