I thought I'd throw this up just to tantalize everyone.....
Original furniture with Ordnance Corps proof Mark's! Where did you get that honey?
Drool! Hot damn man
Looks kind of greasy.
Cosmoline...Military loved that stuff back in the day. Not sure if they still use it.
If they made a cosmoline cologne, I'd wear it. My wife would leave me.
Wait...do they make cosmoline cologne?
Man, when I run my SKS on a hot day, that lovely smell stays on me all week!
Cracked open a case that was shipped from the Mt Rainier Ordnance Depot..... (MROD closed in 1963-- so they have been sitting there since the early '60's)
When you clean that beauty up can you post some more pics of that two grover?
not cleaning them up...... that's for the next owners to do... they were part of an estate.....
(two groovers, are you referring to the fore end? This one does not have that as it is a '42 production)
Nope, the barrel, two lands and grooves. Original 03A3 or 03A4 would have them, your production prolly has 4 each.
Shooting those old beasts is a kick, literally.
Matching bolts included I hope.
Oh that is really nice! I don't blame you for not cleaning it up, as an investment. But then I would hope you have another 1903 that you can shoot.
Yah man...it’s crazy to think that people had to fight for their lives with those mules! I remember dad let me shoot a 1903 when I was 8 or 9 and I was pretty impressed with the wallop.
Oh, I'm not keeping any as an investment, just helping my friend liquidate his parents' estate...
Well, when everyone else had a bolt action only rifle...it was even, but then ... WWII and SMGs and of course the American's with their semi-auto M1s, etc. etc. As Patton put it in his now famous remarks made to the Third Army on June 5, 1944:
"Why, by God, I actually pity those poor sons-of-bitches we're going up against. By God, I do".
