I do this to every 1911 I buy.
I do as well but some of my friends don’t want to spend the money on the parts and new thumb safety.
I’ve never seen a hammer pin like that before, hell, or any pin...
I have an issue with MIM regardless of how good it might be. I'm about to try one of the Wilson "low" thumb safeties. Possible help these old hands
I, too, like the Harrison ignition systems...swapped out the very questionable hammer and sear on a new P-16 with Harrison products...worked out very well with a little fine tuning of the sear. He does good work.
I thought I would continue reports of "progress" in this thread.
So I managed to get the beavertail grip safety INSTALLED, but after @Slapshot shaming I went to investigate the difference between "fitting" and "blending." Of course, my first look at this topic was via UberTube and MosinVirus's blending videos.
Oy vey . . . .
Anyway, this is what it looks like now. I guess I am needing to "blend" it next. And I thought "blending" was something you did to an adult beverage . . . .
I'll start the process with the second, and then migrate to the first . . . . .
We should teach a class together like @Joe C does. We could call it 1911 Community College
I just spit coffee all over my screen . . . . .
Uncle Bob, my ‘Smith just fitted a Wilson low lever to my SA. I like it a lot. Much better for my hand, vey positive off/on snap, etc. Next up is one to replace the extended safety that came on my Commander. I don’t know if the parts that are coming off are MIM or not but I needed the change.
With that compensator, I think you should call it the "Jimmy Durante". Goodnight Mrs Magilacute!
Got some new shoes for the Springer today. Now I've gotta take them home and cut an ambi-safety recess in the right one.
Looking good! I like the Durante, didn’t think I would.
Jimmy Durante it is . . . . .
Just watched Mad Mad Mad Mad World the other day!
Zoid, are you planning to leave it stainless or put a finish on it?
I'm in for the progress. I love me a Z Man build.
Staying stainless for the foreseeable future.
Hardchrome but not until he gets a new holster.
I have nized
Chrome Stainess? Why?
When I had my series 70s done, never needed a new holster.
Until I can Bubba it myself, it will have to be stainless - budget you know.
It's a long story. I'll see if I can dig up a link to that thread.
