Just got my first 1911, 10mm Springfield Armory TRP. Was able to kill two birds with one stone, first 1911 and first 10mm firearm. Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet, but coming up soon. My question is the gun comes with an 18.5 pound recoil spring, and the ammo that I’ll be running is the Sig Sauer 10mm 180gr @1250fps. Should I run it with this cartridge and the 18.5 or just go ahead and get say a 20 or 22 pound spring from the get go?

For a full size 1911, 10mm I would run a 25# hammer spring, a flat bottom firing pin stop & a 18.5-19# recoil spring.

That is the way mine is set up. I bought the firing pin stop from Harrison Design that already has the reduced radius on the bottom.
