I had to do it, the addiction I just cannot contend with :D
In reality I just love the 1911 platform and my recent addition of the PM 9 has just been stellar in every way. Having in the stable already 45acp, 38 super, and 9mm, I went on a quest to find a 5" 40 S&W. DW originally brought this to market in 2008/2009 and ceased production. BUT, I found out that they make a limited production run now and then. Well CZ's website showed 2 in stock and a quick call to Keith at DW confirmed this and a few questions I had about the gun. It has been ordered and is on its way! They have changed the slide markings from back then and I do like the new markings.
I will give a full report on this one. I did not on the PM9 as its been done and as stated mine is running flawlessly! dan_wesson_ssc__dsc4593a_1.jpg dan_wesson_ssc__dsc4591a_1.jpg

I hear you but at least its a nice script. I kinda like it and if it gets old well then maybe a trip to Bob at NHC for DLC? I'm just jazzed that its a 1911 5" 40 as they are hard to find.
There was a gorgeous Wilson CQB 40 on GB a few weeks ago with case color but it went outside my pockets. Man it was some kind of beautiful.

Really nice pistol Mike. It's almost a .45 and I just love .45s.

You’ll love the 1911 in .40 cal. I have owned several and am currently down to one of the few Colts made in that caliber.

I received it today and my FFL did not charge me a transfer fee, it was a XMAS gift from them! Beautiful gun, well made, and no imperfections. It has some good heft to her, 2 lb 11 oz empty mag. Trigger comes in at 3 lb 14 oz. The grips are aggressive too.
I will take her to the range early next week and report back. DW1.jpg DW2.jpg

Range and tear down report: Function was smooth with my reloads (80 rounds), no issues. However when the magazine was loaded with 7 or 8 rounds it did not lock back after the last round, it "would" lock back if I only loaded 6 rounds. I only had the one mag with me. Will load them up and let them sit for a day or two. Accuracy was good, point of aim, still feeling her out. I have to laugh a bit, 40's do BARK, even with an all steel gun. It ain't no 9mm lol.
Tear down went well, interesting is that DW also inscribed the serial number on the frame under the right grip. Ambi safety has a small bushing that fits into the frame, hammer pin has an interesting step at the end (some things I have not seen before), and the magwell is a 2 piece dove tail joint. Grips are made by VZ with DW logo on the underside. They also use o-rings, nice touch I thought.

Upon assembly, that step on the end of the trigger pin protrudes out the right side of the frame and fits into a very nice machined slot in the right side safety! So the ambi safety rides in a nice bushing together and then the trigger pin picks up the right side as an additional guide for it to ride in and also captures the right safety so it cannot come loose. Slick! safety.jpg
