The Staccato HD line is an entirely new family of pistols, designed with feedback from our elite professional end-users. HD pistols remain true to our heritage while being the most technologically-advanced, thoroughly-tested version of the 2011 platform to date. A complete ergonomics overhaul, new optics mounting system, improved recoil system, and active firing pin block provide a combination of durability and shootability only available in the world’s best shooting handgun. Built on the same frame and slide as the P4, the P4.5 HD is built for performance. It’s 4.5-inch sight block design increases barrel length and adds non-reciprocating mass at the muzzle to enhance accuracy and shootability. Utilizing the shorter slide of the P4 maintains a fast cycle speed for increased reliability and a quick, consistent recoil impulse with less muzzle rise.

I am new to the 2011 platform and don't own a staccato, but this does interest me as I think that a significant percentage of 2011 failures over the years are the direct result of poor magazine design. I do acknowledge that Mags have come a long way in the past decade, but are simply not to the reliability levels of say a Glock or AR mag.

I have a Prodigy that I really like but have shot a platypus and it's a cool gun, I would pick one up. the only criticism I have is the one piece lower precludes the option of swapping out grip modules at a later date.

Redesign your pistol just to take some other manufacturer's mag design??? Why would you do such a thing when you just introduced your own new-and-improved mag design, developed your newest pistols to take said mags, and you can charge a pretty penny for them because people keep buying your little black pistols for $2,500+???

If someone wants to use Glock mags, let them buy a Glock.

I would not look at it as another manufactures mag design so much as making a variant that is compatible with most common mag on the planet.

Every new 5.56 rifle on the planet is based around the AR mag. its common, its reliable, affordable, and it simply works. Thats not the case with 2011 mags. are 2011 mags better now than 10 years ago, of course, but mags are still the weak link in the 2011 platform.

the mag issue kept me on the sideline for a while, its currently keeping at least two glock shooting friends on the sideline despite liking how 2011's shoot.

i have a prodigy that I like, would I buy a P, probably not, would I but a glock compatible variant, maybe.

if they use glock mags they could possibly have more product margin in the firearm itself. perhaps this is a financial decision if true. more revenue possibly with the firearm and no worry on making anything on the magazines. some people will pay a little more to have a Glock mag 2011 with a big boy name.

i would buy an OA2311 just because i like the 320 mags, they are plentiful and reliable. but the firearm itself is so ugly i just can’t do it...Yet

This.

I like 2011's

I have a Prodigy, IMO, the P does not offer such an increase in performance that it would warrant me taking a hit diverging myself of my Prodigy and Atlas mags. With that being said. Having a common mag variant is interesting.

I have NEVER seen an Atlas, or Staccatto mag in a local gun shop or sporting good store like bass pro or sportsmans warehouse and while i have no issues ordering online, the normies out there may see this barrier to entry.

options are good a good thing.
