I have been thinking about getting a special pistol for myself in the next 2 years. Being that NHC is up to a 2 year wait, now is the time to start planning this out.
I currently have a full size 5" WC 1911 and a WC Ultralight Carry Compact, both in 9mm. Also have the Staccato C2 which is what I use the most for my EDC.
I am looking for something that is more "fun" for the range. I guess the equivalent of someone having a daily driver for the week but wanting a Porsche 911 Turbo or Ferrari for the weekend. Thus, the idea of a full sized comp'd 2011 came to mind. I'm not expecting that this would suddenly turn me into a Grandmaster level shooter or anything, but if I could rip off a Bill Drill even slightly faster than I can with my C2, I'd be happy.
I have thought about a the Staccato XC for a while. While not a cheap pistol, it seems like the best value for a higher performance 2011. I have also been considering the Nighthawk TRS Comp with iOS (configured like the Sandhawk sans the FDE finish).
Recently I got to shoot my friend's XC and his NHC Falcon double stack back to back, along with my C2. What I noticed is the XC definitely has the least muzzle rise of the 3 (I filmed all 3 in slow mo), but somehow I was still able to drive my C2 faster. Not sure if it's because I was used to it. The Falcon shot very well for me too. Even though it is not comp'd, the dot didn't seem to leave the A zone at 7 yards. Even though the XC also stayed on target, it seemed like it just it was harder to keep on target. I have average male adult hands and I did also like the feel of the NHC grip module better.
Being that I enjoyed the Falcon double stack, would I get an even better experience if I go with a TRS Comp vs the XC? Or do I just need more time on the XC to get used to it? Like I said, I feel the XC is the smarter purchase when it comes to value.
To further complicate the matter, I have also thought about getting the new Staccato C as my EDC and "tricking" out my C2 with a comp and making that my fun gun. But would that be a pointless replacement for my EDC?
Thanks in advance!
