Just bought a few guns, this staccato P being one of them, the gun will not lock back when mag is empty, does anyone know what the fix is, Thx

Edit: Will the slide lock back with an empty mag in it if you manually rack the slide all the way back? If it will, see below.

How tight is the slide to frame fit? Might just need some break-in. I rack a new 1911 a few hundred times first, then shoot a few hundred more before I expect it to behave normal, (unless it’s a Colt which comes from the factory loose).

And be sure it’s lubed good.

It’s not going to lock back without a mag in it. No mag follower to push the slide stop into place.

I’d say make sure that the slide stop (and of course the rest of the gun) is well oiled and put a couple hundred rounds through her to kelp loosen her up.

If you go the “break it in” route, I’d swap out mags before they are empty for a while. Sometimes it’s not good to have a slide slamming shut without a round. Wilson includes a warning about possible wear damage from repetitively slamming the slide without a round in the chamber. Some will argue the issue, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Bummer! Take the Shock-Buff out of the X9, it’s optional and works better with hot loads. My X9L has been flawless with the Shock-Buff removed.

Might try running some hotter rounds through it like 124 gr NATO rounds to see if cycling the gun with a little more gusto makes it behave.
