Anyone used a Storm Lake barrel for a 1911 build? If so, what are your thoughts on them?
Look elsewhere; Kart, KKM, Nowlin.
I am looking at NHC, Kart and several others. All options are open right now. So, Storm Lake is inferior?
There are many manufacturers semi customs included that use storm lake barrels. Personally would buy a Kart or KKM tho.
I have a Storm Lake in one of my custom Colt Commanders that I bought used and its great.
But, I spec Karts in pretty much everything I have built.
I have not heard anything bad about Storm Lake.
I choose Kart and I think many top smiths do because of availability and consistent quality.
installed one of their gunsmith fit barrels in a carry gun.. shot just OK. pretty much installed like a kart gunsmith fit EXCEPT they are Broach rifled.. not know for accuracy. You'll never see one on a BE gun of worth.
Remington has the Storm Lake barrel on sale for just over a buck fifty, tempting. Steve Owens steered me in the direction of Night Hawk Customs website, looking really hard at their barrels and slides.
If your putting a match barrel into a 1911 I don’t know why you’d com with anyone other than Kart!
I have one build in progress that will have a bar-STO barrel just because Kart doesn’t make a barrel for the gun. Otherwise I request Kart

Bar-Sto! That’s what’s in my custom Colt. Not a Storm Lake.
Shot Bar-Sto for decades in my competition pistols. Some folks here don't like them. I just bought a 40 S&W chambered bull barrel with a C/P ramp from them and it fitted to the slide just fine. YMMV though, according to some.
I've also used KKM of late.
Does Kart make a ramped bull barrel?
Kart, Nowlin, Bar-Sto...
