I know we all go here from time to time but after a Car accident.
Friday afternoon we were crusin over to our favorite burger place when a
brick wall jumped out in front of us. A split second later my Sisters 2010
Pontiac G6 was a ship storm of plastic pieces.
A 92 year old guy just sailed through the stop sign & we hit him. After that the sirens
Blue & red lights were everywhere. They put us in a Med truck & wired me up, oh yea they asked me if I could take my jacket off. Yea you guessed it, I had my Commander in a shoulder holster. They just said oh ok & the police officer just said just don't shoot me LOL.
Do you want to see my CCH? Nope.

My Sister and I were hurt but we just said we would go see our Dr. on Monday. Now some of you know just what happened & why, but for those who don't here goes. Sis needed a rental car so I talked to both Insureance Cos for her. This Morning I heard back from Amica & they said they accepted liability & would pay for the rental. Hey about now I know I have Murphy by the Balls. But hold on the best was yet to come, I called our Dr. at 9am & at 5pm I got a call from the Nurse. Mike we don't do Car accidents. WTF???

Ok what can we do I asked. Go to urgent care. Ok what if they want us to go to a specialist? Well they will send you back to us & we will refer you. WTF??? So let me try to wrap my tiny brain around this. My Dr. of the last 9 years does not do car accidents, & I have to go sit in a waiting room & see a Dr. who has never seen me before, then if I need another Dr. they will send me back to you. Right! YES.

Fellow Addicts just where the hell am I? Did I spend to much time Overseas? Did I incur
A brain injury? Would I be better off as an illegal Alien? Maybe I am in the Twilight Zone & just need to wake up. If this is the Norm I'm signing up for a trip to Mars .

Going to lay down now, I hope I wake up in reality, Right.

I've heard that before. They don't have the equipment the ER has and don't want the liability because they couldn't perform a thorough evaluation. I'm glad you both are alright

This is exactly right. Your primary care doctor neither has the specialized knowledge or equipment to evaluate you fully after a potentially-serious accident, so he/she doesn't want the liability of missing something. That said, it is a bit on the weak side. If it has been a couple days and you don't have any alarming symptoms, a primary care doctor should be able to give you a general thorough exam and order any imaging or lab tests that are indicated.

If you go to Urgent Care, then it is on them, not your primary care doctor. Of course, if they are being difficult, they could say you needed to go to a full Emergency Department for evaluation. Then, you really wouldn't have won.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad that you are (apparently) not seriously injured.

Mike, call your health care insurance and let them advocate for you. That is why you pay the monthly premiums. As a last resort you may need to hire a good reputable lawyer to guide you though this mess. As if you are truly hurt you will need them.

You and Sis gona be sore two or three days AFTERwards. As long as no concussion, little your primary care physician could do for you (maybe recommend an MRI, which his office isn’t likely equipped to handle anyway). Good luck!

Thanks guys for the well wishes, I just was not prepared for this. We will find help & USAA our Insurance Company has helped us so much. Old folks like us don't heal to fast, but we will be ok I just know it.

We don’t do car accidents? Maybe that is some of the Obammy care conundrum? You and your sis take care, definitely go see a Doctor!

Sucks man! Hope you’ll all be A-ok soon.
Yeah after the last two accidents in our family.
I was rear ended about 3 yrs ago, police, amb-lance and all (rear ended at 70 mph by young girl on her phone, We had entered a 45mph zone) said I was ok and went about my business. Everything was a pain to get taken care of!

Last year wife was rear ended sitting at a stop light, old man, near dusk, couldn’t see! Wife called me right after and I told her to take the ride in the amb-lance and you know what all her bills were paid and no problems getting things paid!

My take on it, it sucks but take the amb-lance ride and it will make life easier down the road!

If an accident is the other driver's fault and they have insurance, that insurance company is supposed to pay all your medical bills, without any deductible, just as they are supposed to pay fully to fix or replace your automobile. Of course, "supposed to" doesn't always mean "will do."

In fact, if your health insurance company (or your auto insurance company if you have special coverage) may pay your bills and then turn around and ask the other driver's auto insurance company to reimburse them in a process called subrogation.

Thanks all for all the great advice, I am beginning to get it. I have just sat back a laughed at the madness I see on the news, but it has affected everything we do in life. I do not have to like what's happened but what choice do I have? I am sure that somewhere along the line I will be advised to get a Lawyer, but I just do not like to share with Butt heads!

Life in America has been taken over by Lawyers, they control all most every aspect of what we can & cannot do. I can now see just why the gun grabbers want to put liability on Firearms manufactures & Firearms sellers. Once they have this control over the Gun makers the 2nd Amendment will become a moot point.

The link below opened my eyes to just what has happened & why. Sure could have fooled me, I never would have guessed we had sunk to this level. Some of us remember the Doc making a house call, & if you got put into Hospital the Doc would come see you. Those days are long gone :(
We will see one of the Drs. tomorrow.

Does anyone have any experience with
They claim to be the answer to we don't do car accidents that the
    Dr. claims.

I do not want to make a mistake now. Thanks.

I wouldn't get mixed up with an outfit like that...they may have you get unnecessary tests so they can scam the insurance companies. If your primary care doctor truly won't see you, go to a reputable Urgent Care. Even if your doctor won't see you, call his/her office and demand that he/she call you back personaly to give you guidance.
