Anyone here have any experience with Tanfoglio pistols?
I’m specifically looking at the Defiant Sock Master I in .38 Super.
Good? Bad? Ugly?

I don’t own any, but my brother had an older model ( stolen by a crack head unfortunately) it ran and shot great. They have a solid reputation I think.

It seems so from what I’ve read and seen on YouTube. I love 38 Super and these seem like something just a little different than my 1911s.

I’m not familiar with the model you referenced, but many of their offerings are based on the CZ 75, which is an excellent platform. I LOVE 38 Supers! Perhaps I need to look at this one😎

I've shot a couple different Tanfo Stock models. Lots of them in USPSA/IDPA etc. They are a solid gun, but my personal preference is for my CZs.

I’ve loved the 2 CZ-75 that I had as well as the Jericho 941 and my current Sig 210. Something charming about the internal slide.
The Defiant is the new version of the Witness series.

Owned a bunch of different models mostly the large frame for uspsa production and Carry optics division.
They work out of the box, are accurate, SA is usually acceptable, DA can be heavy7-8 lbs and crunchy.
Little bit of trigger works and some parts i.e. hammer, seaar , trigger make them nice,
Light DA/SA etc

They used to be a real bargain, now not like 10 years ago or so.
But they're worth the money
You should be able to find a super more cost effectively than a 9mm, "usually"

I had an EAA Witness in .45 and it was VERY accurate , sold it after I started shooting 38 Super, but 2 of the guys I shoot with one has a .45 and the other is 9mm, both frames were cracked after a while, the company replaced the .45, the other guy took a loss sold it cheap and bought a CZ / TSO.

I don't have any experience with the specific model you mentioned, but Tanfoglio has long been a solid performer in competition pistols in Europe. They have an excellent reputation there.

The only model I own is a Stock III Extreme in 9MM. Quality is first class, trigger smooth as can be. It's very similar to CZ in design and quality.

I don't think Tanfoglio has ever been promoted and distributed to it's full potential in the US and parts and accessories are somewhat hard to come by unless you deal with one of the few dealers in the US that carry them.
I had one of their higher end offerings. $2400 range. It was worse than a $1500 cz tso . They are flashy. Similar to cz. But from my 1 experience a step down from cz. Trigger was worse. Accuracy slightly worse. And recoil worse

a friend has several $500/600 range ones. Now those I think are as good or better than basic level cz’s
They have a good reputation
