Yea, I remember picking up my CM from a local FFL and there were 3 sandvipers on display, excitingly I wanted to get a chance to hold and rack one. Taking a closer look once it was in my hands were many blemishes, looked and felt real cheap compared to he CM or an Atlas. I asked the rep to show me the next one and it too was the same and when I asked to see the last of the 3 the rep laughed and said "Yea I dont get the price tag to quality either" - the XC felt and looked way better when holding them together at a 3k price difference.
lol. If you are looking for value then you will have to keep looking. :). I just want a gun that is of similar quality to my CM and I will be happy. I still haven’t ordered one yet either

If my concern is merely value, Canik is where its at. Value is not the main issue - especially when looking at 2011's. If you are at 7k which is already at the infinity level price range and you got fibers and irons flying off the gun, machine markings, severe finish blemishes and thats just to name a few then it becomes an issue of legitimacy of the gunsmiths which I might add is a secret so well kept that the US GOVT needs to reach out and take notes.

I have two Infinity’s and I had a third so I am very familiar with what Infinity produces. Fiber optics can come out. If you have a comp on the front of the gun and it has a fiber optic front sight, the gas/fire off the comp can melt the end. Especially if you are rapid firing it a lot hence a lot more heat. The sight is all they way forward on the slide next to the comp. I guess you could move the sight back but I personally wouldn’t care for that. And it has happened to me with my Honcho and guess what? You can put a new one on is a few seconds. They are disposable and made to be that way. The finish issues is an entirely different issue and something I wouldn’t be happy with. A fiber optic. Coming off? That happens.

I am betting they are going to keep it that way until the movie is released, then either open up orders again or add an optic variant of the Pit Viper. They definately know how to make money over their at TTI
yeah. I agree. They know how to print money. I would personally want an iron/optic ready variant. I am also waiting for people to get their hands on them and see what is being said. For 7k, the gun better be perfect.

For a limited run, 400 units is higher than I would expect for long-term value. Lew Horton often specified 300 units maximum for their limited S&W offerings. Quite often, the numbers were less than half of that. Some of those took years to sell.

I also do not accept statements that there are more than 600 people ready to drop $7k on a pistol inspired by a movie at face value. While there are very well-heeled collectors, the pool of people willing and able to drop $7k on a pistol is fairly small, and not all of those people would be moved to open their checkbooks for this pistol. I may be wrong, but the cynic in me thinks the "sold out" message is a way to use the "fear of missing out" to sell more pistols.

[ETA] I pulled the BATFE manufacturer report. In 2020, Les Baer made less than 1000 pistols. Infinity made 554 pistols. STI made just under 16000 pistols. Les Baer made less than I expected while STI made more. Caspian and Foster together built less than 1000 frames. Wilson made just under 9500 pistols. TTI did make 21 rifles. [/ETA]

as noted above, they are making more pistols. That I don’t think anyone has doubt about that. I think they make guns in batches or have a set number that they take orders for. Once those are filled, then they will make more. These won’t be “rare” anymore than their Combat Master is. The original one made by STI was only produced for a short while which causes the value of that gun to go up. But they still make one that looks pretty close to the original and they will continue to sell and make those as long as they make money. The sand viper is another example. These guns are produced to make money for TTI not to be collectors items. There are plenty of buyers of high end firearms out there. Otherwise gun Manufacturers such as Atlas, Akai, Infinity, Joe Chambers, etc wouldn’t be making them. There are a lot of people out there willing to spend money on guns that for whatever reason they feel is worth it.

It seems a lot of people jumped on the Sand Viper l($7k) and that was assumed to be the JW4 gun.
Now that the Pit Viper is officially the JW4, I’m guessing it’ll sell more units than the Sand Viper?

Thanks for sharing the video. Nice gun but the loose screw on the site is a problem and he didn’t mention what the remedy for it was. I have several guns with adjustable target sites and never had a screw walk. I find that concerning and only at 350 rounds or so. It also had the pin walk out to the side of the site. Also didn’t mention what the resolution for that was either. It shoots flat like a comped gun should and he says it shoots like an XC which is a compliment honestly as the XC is one of the nicest shooting guns out there but it’s also 2500 more. That’s a lot money for some fancy slide cuts even with the John Wick franchise behind it.

Ita obvious that these guns are now all about the looks and making a profit.

IMHO I'm surprised the JW3 variations are so good. I'd completely expect "just good enough" for a product cashing in on a movie franchise association - which seems to be the SV and PV.

may this point we don’t know how good the pit viper will be. The sand viper seems to be an excellent performer but I have seen some with some cosmetic issues that shouldn’t be there. We will have to see how the Pit Viper stacks up. I am very happy with my STI CM but I got one when it was first released and only paid 3800 shipped. The QC on that gun is great. Waiting to see impressions of the Pit Viper when more people get them in hand before I buy one. I expect for 7K they need to be perfect.
